Adrienne couldn't sleep that very same night. No matter how luxurious and comfortable her room was, she missed being home with her husband by her side. She didn't doubt that Lennox felt the same. If Alistair hadn't threatened her, she wouldn't willingly come to him and be confined in this strange place.

The rain resumed pouring outside, drenching everything in sight and making her feel even more trapped and isolated. Alistair had left her alone for now, but she didn't dare to lower her guard for fear that he might assault her in her sleep.

She sat on the bed and rested her head on her folded arms, trying to calm her racing thoughts and find some semblance of peace. Adrienne felt she was experiencing the same hell she endured in her previous life. She desperately hoped that this nightmare would soon come to an end.
