Unlike pedestrians and other foot traffic seeking to enter the Imperial City via the city gates, air travellers were first ordered to abandon their craft long before they could reach the actual city itself, subjected to a thorough and vigorous search, and then, when they were all carefully veted, finally allowed to enter the city via old railway tunnels that ran under the city walls.
