The news of the arrival of a large traveling company spread throughout the garrison like wildfire.
The soldiers within the barracks flocked to the arena like maggots to a corpse.
The Arena- a massive amphitheater Menas had constructed right in the center of the fortress to host his beloved games was a behemoth, to say the least.
At full capacity, it could hold a staggering 50,000 to 60,000 spectators, even more than some coliseums in the capital.
According to some rumors, Menas had spent hundreds of thousands of kril to erect the colossus, which was, in retrospect, a worthy investment given the returns he had accumulated over the past six years.
During that time, the Parallel Games had become festivities of some sort. The soldiers would place large bets on fighters of their choice to participate in the death matches that took place down in the pit of death, as they called it.
