Due to Rong Tianshi's careless comment, the neglected Mrs. Rong Sr.'s anger ignited like a fuse in a powder keg. Livid, she raised her hand and slapped Rong Tianshi squarely across the face. "You fool!" she railed. "If you dare go through with this, mark my words, I'll make sure that ingrate suffers the same fate as Chu Jing. I'll ruin her! If you don't do as I say, I'll send her back to the countryside, where local ruffians can have their way with her!"

Rong Tianshi winced in pain from the slap, his neck emitting an unsettling 'crack.' He found it difficult to even turn his head back to its normal position. 

"She's your granddaughter too, Mom," he managed to say, his head still awkwardly cocked to one side.
