Chapter 9: Chapter 9 - Lead The Way - Hunters

The three hunters moved quietly through the dense forest, their eyes peeled for any sign of movement. They are from Black Copper Town; they left the town for some time to hunt a deer, and they were determined to return with a successful hunt.

As they moved deeper into the woods, they suddenly heard a rustling in the trees above them. They looked up just in time to see a group of figures with masks on their faces drop down from the branches, each armed with a bow and arrows. They've already drawn and pointed out their arrows.

The hunters were taken aback, their hands reaching instinctively for their own weapons. But before they could react, three arrows shot from the three figures and hit the ground just beside them.

It was clear that these shots were warning shots.

The older man with a beard looked around at himself and then started talking to his two friends.

"Emily, Garnas, do not try to do anything. I count more than ten men, each armed with bows and arrows."

Emily, the woman hunter, looked pretty scared, and sweat started dropping from her head.

"Dan, what should we do?"

She asked; from her voice, it was clear she was afraid, and she had every reason to be afraid.

On the other hand, Garnas, the young hunter with blonde hair, did not seem to be scared too much.

He looked around and watched the masked figures and then whispered before Dan spoke.

"I think they have no intention to hurt us."

Dan asked with an uncertain face.

"How do you know?"

Garnas answered without thinking; his face showed clear understanding.

"If they wanted us dead, we would be dead." We have no chance to take on ten archers at the same time."

Dan noticed the word usage of Garnas." He did not say that these figures are just people, or hunters; he said "Archers," which shows a clear military and gang with order and levels in the group.

At that time, one of the figures came forward and started talking. His voice was crackly and hard to understand, but they had no time to consider it.

"We Mean No Harm. Come With Us. Our Leader Wants to See"

The hunters looked at each other in confusion. These people were unlike anything they had ever seen before. But they could sense that they were not humans, most likely.

"Who are you?" one of the hunters asked cautiously.

"We are Archers of Adrian," Pan replied, this time with a more clear voice. It seemed like his first time trying to talk.

The hunters were intrigued by the creatures. They had never heard of anyone using puppets in this way before.

"Your master, where is he?" the female hunter asked.

"He is back at our camp," Pan replied.

The three hunters looked at each other, and all of them nodded at the same time.

Dan spoke.

"Then, lead the way to your master."

They did not want to do anything that would create some sort of conflict with these guys. They are outnumbered and do not want to fight against these weird men at all.

-

Adrian, back at the camp, smiled and nodded.

"This is what I wanted; with these three hunters, I will be gathering a great deal of information. First, it is best for me to hide my face."

Adrian wears a wooden mask like his puppets and waits for his team to arrive with hunters.
