Chapter 28: Chapter 28 Miserable
Aaron Liu was still silent without saying anything. During the trip, he didn't say a single word. He never thought that Miranda Choi had been in a relationship with another man while still his future wife. It was too painful for a man who lost everything after his family went bankrupt.
"When did your relationship end?" asked Jiang Lily to start the conversation. She wanted to make sure the man wasn't too hurt by his future wife's betrayal.
"Not even a month," Aaron Liu replied shortly.
"What! She was almost three months pregnant. How can you not realize that your future wife is pregnant?" Jiang Lily thought that the man was too stupid and also very careless.
Not only was he betrayed, but the woman didn't even want to consider his existence. Compassion and pity deepened in Jiang Lily's heart. She couldn't believe that her assistant had experienced such a difficult life.
Thinking that the woman's actions were cruel, Jiang Lily didn't want to make the man even worse. She had to do something to make Miranda Choi not be so mean to Aaron Liu.
"I want both of us to come to that woman's wedding," Jiang Lily said hesitantly. She was curious to know if Aaron Liu would agree to that.
"What am I coming to their wedding for? Do you want to be humiliated? I'm not coming!" said Aaron Liu with mixed feelings.
"As long as I'm around, there's no way you'll be humiliated by anyone," Jiang Lily said convincingly. She wouldn't let her assistant be publicly humiliated.
Aaron Liu was silent and didn't give any response. He still wasn't ready to witness his ex-fiancée's wedding. Although, in a way, the man was curious about someone who had cheated on Miranda Choi.
Not returning to the company, Jiang Lily invited her assistant to go home. She understood Aaron Liu's feelings.
Of course, it was not easy to find out that the woman who had only recently separated from him was almost three months pregnant. It was too evident that her ex-fiancé had cheated on her while still with her.
"Get some rest first! I'll take you somewhere tonight," Jiang Lily said to a man who wasn't excited.
"If Miss is ready, just call me," Aaron Liu replied softly before entering his room.
At that moment, Jiang Lily went straight to her grandmother. She had something important to say. She seemed unable to hold it in any longer.
"I have something to say, Grandma!" Without permission, Jiang Lily walked straight into the room of an older woman who was reading some documents in her hands.
"Can't you knock on the door first, Lily!" snapped Mrs. Jiang, feeling that her granddaughter had been rude.
Unconcerned by her grandmother's reprimand, Jiang Lily placed the files on the table. She invited Mrs. Jiang to sit on the sofa next to the window.
This raised curiosity in Mrs. Jiang's heart. She was sure it was someone who wasn't very nice.
"This is very important, Grandma... about Aaron. It turns out that Miranda Choi is Aaron's ex-fiancée. That woman has cheated on him and also betrayed him. Not only that, I heard her hurling insults at Aaron." Jiang Lily tried to recount all the harsh words from Miranda Choi. Although she didn't like Aaron Liu, the pregnant woman's cruel treatment had gone too far.
"Are you telling the truth, Lily? This isn't an unwarranted accusation, is it?" asked Mrs. Jiang to confirm the truth.
"Why would I lie, Grandma? Although I don't like Aaron, seeing him so crushed, I feel very sorry for him." Jiang Lily was, of course, only human. She had a conscience as well as compassion for others.
Mrs. Jiang was silent for a moment. She still didn't expect Aaron's life to be that bad. No wonder the man looked so down when they first met.
However, there was one crucial thing that Mrs. Jiang still didn't know. She still needed to get information about Aaron Liu's family background. As for asking directly, it could be not very respectful to her.
"Are you coming to Miranda Choi's wedding?" Mrs. Jiang asked her granddaugter.
"I plan to ask Aaron to come to his ex-fiancée's wedding. He can't look weak or pathetic." Jiang Lily was so sure that Aaron Liu would come with her.
She would force him to come with her if he didn't come. She did this for the good of the man himself. Jiang Lily would even make him the center of attention at the slut's wedding.
Being a member of the Jiang Family was enough to make everyone respect her, given that her grandmother was a very influential woman in the business world.
