Chapter 27: Chapter 27 Wedding Invitation
Miranda Choi immediately widened her eyes when she found Jiang Lily there. Even more shocking, she confessed that Aaron Liu was her assistant.
It was too unbelievable for her to hear about the relationship between her ex-fiancé and the owner of JL Fashion. Miranda Choi knew the Jiang Family was a high-powered businessman she could not beat.
"Ms. Jiang! How did you pick up this poor man? You should be careful making a beggar your assistant," Miranda Choi warned a young woman she recognized as the granddaughter of the owner of the country's most prominent fashion company.
"Only I am qualified to judge him. As for you, are you decent enough to say that?" retorted Jiang Lily in a snappy, unfriendly tone. She didn't like her client's rude attitude at all. So impolite and so condescending to others.
"Sorry, Miss Jiang. I didn't mean to offend you." Miranda Choi couldn't possibly stand up to Jiang Lily. She was well aware of her position.
Going against the Jiang Family would only complicate her fashion business. Miranda Choi did not want to act foolishly and destroy the excellent relationship between herself and JL Fashion.
Succumbing was the best option for Miranda Choi. The slightest mistake could be fatal for all her fashion businesses. It was also what forced her to restrain herself.
"I came because grandma asked me to deliver this dress. You asked us to fix it because your pregnancy is getting bigger, right?" Jiang Lily quipped without any preamble. "It's better just to try it on right away! If anything is missing, I can take care of it right away. Considering your wedding is tomorrow," she continued.
"I'll give it a try, Miss. Please have a seat first." Miranda Choi finally went inside to try on the wedding dress.
On the other hand, Aaron Liu was still standing not far from the door. His face was very hurt and also full of disappointment. He never thought that his ex-fiancée never loved him at all.
For years, Aaron Liu had to live a relationship full of falsehoods. Miranda Choi had deceived and betrayed him deeply.
Jiang Lily could see that her grandmother's chosen assistant was so sad and also hurt. She was still trying to delve into the chaos between Aaron Liu and Miranda Choi. She was sure that there was something that Aaron Liu still didn't reveal.
"What exactly is the relationship between you and that arrogant woman? Why does she seem to hate you so much?" Jiang Lily approached Aaron Liu and directly asked the question.
"That woman should have married me." That was the only sentence that came out of Aaron Liu's mouth. He didn't want to tell her about all the misfortunes he had gone through.
It was nothing, and the man didn't want to make Jiang Lily feel sorry for him. Her condition was very pitiful and quite heartbreaking. Aaron Liu didn't want to ask the beautiful woman for pity at all.
Jiang Lily could see how to hurt and tormented Aaron Liu was. Predictably, she had betrayed and abandoned him as well.
For a moment, Jiang Lily felt sorry for everything Miranda Choi said and did to her assistant. She didn't expect Aaron Liu's life to be full of drama enough to torment her.
"How do I look in this dress, Miss Jiang?" asked Miranda Choi, who had just stepped out in a gown Mrs Jiang had designed herself.
"Very pretty!" said Jiang Lily loudly. 'It's beautiful,' she said with a fake smile before the woman with a growing belly.
Jiang Lily approached the woman in the luxurious dress designed by her grandmother. It felt unwilling to see the dress worn by a cheap woman like Miranda Choi.
Meanwhile, Aaron Liu stood transfixed, watching his former fiancée look beautiful in that dress. He should have stood side by side with Miranda Choi on their wedding day. However, fate was too cruel that the man felt he had been played so torturously.
"I see your belly has grown; how old is your pregnancy?" asked Jiang Lily without taking her eyes off the pregnant woman in the luxurious dress handmade by her grandmother.
"It's almost three months. Therefore, I asked Mrs. Jiang to increase the size of the belly circumference. Fortunately, the result was amazing, and I could cover my belly with these gorgeous embellishments." Miranda Choi holds a large ribbon that sits right on her stomach.
The design of the ribbon was deliberately made to disguise her pregnancy. From the look on Miranda Choi's face, she seemed very satisfied with the wedding dress design made by Mrs. Jiang.
Things were challenging for Aaron Liu. He had to endure all the pain and hurt in his heart. Of course, it was challenging for him to do that. However, it would be a shame for him to look down in front of all of them.
"Is it so great to get pregnant before marriage?" quipped Jiang Lily with a cynical smile and a displeased tone.
"What do you mean, Miss Jiang? Of course, I'm delighted to carry the child of the man I love. I've specially invited you to attend our wedding banquet tomorrow. It just so happens that I have also sent the invitation to your home." Miranda Choi could only hold back in the presence of a woman who was not her opponent.
"I'll come!" said Jiang Lily before pulling Aaron Liu out of the house.
