Chapter 153: Massacre

Edol's face remained stoic as he charged outside, leaving Levi to die. As soon as he and Lod exited from the building, they saw a scene of carnage. 

The ground around the house was all torn up, the originally neatly lain bricks of the road now strewn around haphazardly. 

Huge spikes of earth stuck up every few meters, each of them crowned with the corpse of a black-cloaked cultist. Small rivers of blood flowed down, joining each other in the nearby canal.

None of their allies were anywhere to be found, but there also seemed to be no living cultists left.

"Ghost, where are you?"

Edol didn't receive a response. 

"Lod, let's just run north, then. I doubt the ranch is safe… the Hogilope probably isn't either. Let's head somewhere else."

The young man nodded, still seeming to be in shock after the battle. They needed to hurry and run, though, before the powerful cult leaders could catch up to them.
