Chapter 11

(A/N: I realize the fight was a bit goofy last chapter and it looked like the MC was trolling, but if the MC went all out from the beginning he would have been obliterated low diff. The only reason he won was that they didn't expect all the abilities he had. 9.5 times out of 10 he would have died there.)

I managed to get away from the area of the battle and ran as fast as I could until I finally took a rest for a moment on the fourth floor. I quickly used Healing on myself to cure both my stamina and blood loss while I slumped to the floor. I was still aware of my surroundings but I needed a moment to rest and reflect. It was clear that I had been too arrogant before, and that had nearly cost me my life. Even though I gained a new skill from it I definitely wouldn't be repeating something like that again.

If it wasn't for the element of surprise and the fact that I knocked the man out of the fight early I would have been dead. If they had known about my Magic Aura they would have been cautious of me from the start, that's why I relied mainly on Fireball until the end of the fight. Sure, my Holy magic can reconnect limbs or regrow eyes, but I need to get off the spell for it to actually work. Holy magic doesn't work the quickest even with my chant annulment subskill. If I would have actually dedicated time to trying to heal myself during that fight I would have died for sure.

I sighed and was just thankful that I wasn't dead and actually had this experience to grow from. I felt a bit better when considering that I probably massively boosted my stats from this battle. I most likely don't have any stats S rank or above yet, but I was fairly confident that at least my magic stat would be A rank. My mood soured again when thinking back to the rage I had felt in that battle, it had felt like I wasn't myself for a little while and that concerned me. I wasn't sure if that was just some sort of subconscious anger I have been holding onto or if it was a manifestation of the feelings of the body I am currently in, but it wasn't comforting knowing that even my own emotions can be that foreign to me.

As I rose once more after my short break I decided that I would take some time to reflect on what my true motivations and emotions are in this world. Then, I would try to integrate myself into this body more. So far I have just been treating this body like a vehicle that has no will or emotions of its own, but after what happened in the battle I am not so sure anymore. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to make sure that I am the only one who has control here.

I was still a bit unsteady on my feet, but with my stamina mostly recovered, I was ready to go. I didn't bother killing any monsters I encountered on my way out of the dungeon due to being lost in thought. I only snapped out of my stupor when I recognized my location, the wide hallway on the first floor that would lead me out of the dungeon quickly. I picked up the pace and swiftly exited the dungeon, emerging into the slightly chill twilight air of Orario. I began to make my way toward the guild but paused when I saw all the adventurers around me giving me knowing looks.

Looking down at myself I saw that I was covered in blood, but in the darkness of the evening, it looked more like monster blood than human blood. I had never been more thankful for darkness than I was now. I would have been asked some uncomfortable questions if I was drenched in human blood with no wounds of my own. I moved to a less crowded side street before using Clean Wash, making myself look good as new. Then I reached into my Spatial Storage and removed a large bag, I used the bag to store all of my 80+ collected monster stones so I could sell them at the guild.

Upon my arrival at the guild, I quickly moved to a spot where I can sell monster stones in bulk. This area is usually used only by big teams once they return from an expedition into the dungeon. I drew some interested looks as I entered the line, but nothing malicious. I quickly made it to the front of the line and dumped the stones into a large receptacle. Then I waited a few minutes for the stones to be counted and assessed. Once that was done I received 60K Valis and stealthily dropped it into my Spatial Storage. I didn't think I would get robbed, but one could never be too careful.

After separating my cut from the rest of the money, I was left with 15.5K to play with. I decided to spend my money on some high-quality food for dinner. It only took me asking one person to get extremely precise directions to the Hostess of Fertility. It made sense that the place would be famous, anywhere that the Loki familia gathers to eat, even if just occasionally, is going to be extremely popular. It wasn't too far away from the dungeon and it occupied one of the main roads of the city, which made it very easy to locate.

Even as I approached the Hostess of Fertility I could feel the warmth and hear the cheery atmosphere before I even entered the building. As soon as I entered I could immediately understand why so many people liked this place. It was neither too big nor small, and it had a cozy, but lively atmosphere. Judging from the looks of contentment from those who had already finished eating, it was clear that the food here was also amazing.

Due to the fact that I was alone, I found myself a table at the very corner of the room, near the entrance. I wasn't necessarily in a rush, but I also didn't want to stay out too long and worry Miach and Naaza. Also, I wanted to return sooner rather than later due to the mental exhaustion I still felt after my near-death experience. I drew some gazes as I strode to the corner of the room, probably due to my size and the fact that I was alone. Most of the looks came from women that seemed to be interested in me, but I ignored them, I wasn't in the mood today.

I observed the other patrons as I sat and waited, but I was unable to locate any people that I recognized from the series. Luckily, it didn't take long until a waitress came to collect my order. However, the moment she laid eyes upon me, she stopped and dropped the plate she was currently holding. All conversation died as everyone turned to look at the source of the noise. Syr blushed as she embarrassedly apologized to everyone, then to the person who had ordered the plate before hurriedly cleaning it up. I noticed that despite her moving around, cleaning, and grabbing new dishes, her eyes rarely left me.

'Just my luck that the first one I met was Freya in disguise,' I thought to myself as I released a long sigh. It was clear that her exaggerated reaction upon seeing me was due to her not being able to see my soul. She was probably so used to seeing mortal souls that she probably didn't even consider the fact that it may not work on one. I wanted to kick myself for coming here, especially after I had already taken enough risks today, but I also knew that it was only a matter of time before Freya would learn about me anyway.

This wasn't as much of a risk in some ways, but I was able to justify it in my mind. Plus, the only thing she knows is that she can't see my soul. That will definitely interest her, but I don't think that will be enough to get her to do something drastic, not yet at least. For now, all I could do was shrug and order my food, hoping for the best. The gleam in her eyes didn't disappear as she watched me every time she walked by.

Eventually, when bringing my food over she paused and leaned over my table as she sat the plate down, "I haven't seen you around here before, are you a new adventurer?" she asked in a flirty tone.

I felt the same lie detector effect pass over as when Miach had used it before. I couldn't help but feel that things would get much more annoying from here on out.

The love interest is either Ais or Cassandra, I haven't decided yet, but it's between these two.
