Chapter 61: The Battle
“You lazy bitch, you have barely started your training and you are already slacking off so how do you want to learn?” The nurse continued ranting but Josephine just stood there watching her silently not even saying a word because she's already used to receiving insults everyday so it doesn't affect her anymore.
She stopped, took a deep breaths and finally noticed that Josephine didn't say a word but only stood silently.
“Take these medical reports and go to the ward described on it” the head nurse said and Josephine nodded collecting the file.
She was almost close to the ward when her phone vibrated but she quickly looked around and appreciated God that it was on vibration hence it was against the hospital rule to bring phone during work hours but she had to take the risk because of her brother so she quickly walked to an empty ward and picked the call.
"Jojo, what's going on? Why isn't your aunt here yet? You know you have to pay for the oxygen otherwise the doctor will remove your brother's oxygen mask" The doctor said and tears slowly escaped Josephine's eyes because it was her brother's nurse who just called.
"You have to help me nurse, please Mary, you have to do something because I can't lose my brother now. He was there for me when our parents died. Please do something" Josephine pleaded crying quietly"
"I can only pay for today and you know the oxygen is very expensive and I can't afford to help you everyday. So you have to raise money quick if your aunt isn't willing to help" The nurse threatened and Josephine ended the call and bent down sobbing quietly.
She stayed there for a long time before she finally stood up and noticed the medical reports.
"I knew it right then that I've lost this job. I gently removed my nurse uniform and quit because I don't want to hear more insults or worse still receive dismissal letter" Josephine said while walking out but then she turned to look at the hospital where she has been surviving all alone..
"I'll survive this time and I'm just a nineteen years old who has never been given a chance to enjoy the world. Struggling all alone to cater for myself and save my elder brother from his coma state then Always maltreated by my aunt and I can't do anything to defend myself" Josephine said sobbing painfully.

“Fiona” Fyneface shouted and she shook with fear on the sofa. She clamped her hand on her mouth before pleading...
“Cousin please I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.......” Fiona was about saying but Fyneface rudely interrupted her
“Give me that phone right now” he ordered and stretched his hands towards her but she didn't even argue and just gave the phone to him.
“You are grounded Fiona and you are not allowed to leave this house until school resume” Fyneface said angrily.
“Cousin I'm not nine anymore so you can't ground me. I refuse to...,” Fiona couldn't even finish her statement as Fyneface interrupted her.
“And don't even think of asking for your phone until I'm ready to give it back” he shouted and turned around to leave then Newstyle felt that Fyneface was really acting too extreme this time so he tried to plead on her behalf.
“Brother it was just a mistake you know Fiona wouldn't say that on purpose so You shouldn't...” Newstyle was about to say but he immediately shut up as Fyneface turned to look at him and the anger was still evident in his eyes then he gulped in fear as Fyneface walked towards him.
“Another word from you and I'll freeze all your accounts, and you'll also be grounded alongside her if you keep defending her” Fyneface said lowly before finally leaving the room but then Fiona bent her head and began to sob quietly.
Newstyle prayed silently to God for saving him and went over to Fiona to console her
“Don't cry okay. Brother is just angry right now but he'll calm down so please don't cry. Even though you are very annoying I hate seeing you cry” Newstyle said to Fiona who was crying
“I didn't mean to say that. I would never wish for cousin and cousin in-law to get separated. I...,” Fiona burst into tears not completing her statement but Newstyle consoled her.
Did I go overboard just now? I'm only protecting her and I don't want a foolish immature guy to just deceive her and leave her heartbroken" Fyneface complained to himself as he looked at the pink coloured phone in his hand.
"I really wonder who she was chatting with. She might think she's in love right now but trust me, she'll be thankful I did what I did now when she later realizes that she was only infatuated" Fyneface said as he slipped the phone into his pocket and walked into his room but he panicked a little discovering that Felicia wasn't in bed anymore. He was about to start searching for her when she walked out of the shower in just a towel then he gulped as his erection slowly formed a tent in his trouser.
"Don't blame me because my wife is always breathtakingly beautiful everyday and I can't help but feel aroused from just looking at her naked flawless body" Fyneface said but when he looked up, he saw her smiling sweetly at him.
"Does she realize what her smile does to me every time I see it?" Fyneface asked no one in particular
"Kitty I'm glad you are in a better position than when you just came home” Fyneface said walking towards her.
“Hubby I'm still ill so don't go on assuming things. Right now, I want to eat barbeque that has a lot of onions in it and I want it specially prepared by my darling hubby” Felicia said smiling mischievously.
Fyneface was smiling initially but when he heard that she wanted to eat barbeque and he heard the word onions, the smile on his face was immediately replaced with a frown.
“No, the doctor said you should only eat porridge for now” Fyneface answered tactfully forgetting that a moment ago he would have gladly given her the barbeque.
“No, I don't want to eat that tasteless thing again” Felicia pouted cutely.
" I'm glad my kitty is finally back to me but remember the doctor's order. Who was it that said no sex for four months” Fyneface uttered pretending to be thinking.
“Hubby is so mean” Felicia answered instead knowing what he was trying to do because she really made him suffer during that period claiming no sex for four months and now it's his turn to payback.
Few minutes later, Fyneface walked into the sitting room and saw only Newstyle but Fiona wasnt there. She didn't come out for dinner as well so he sighed and decided that he should really go check up on her. He was on his way to Fiona's room when his phone rang and it was a cal from his private investigator
"Sir I've found out who killed your unborn baby" The investigator said.

Meanwhile back at Victor's residence he paced restlessly over the place
“What did the doctor say? Is the baby alright” Victor asked nervously barging into the room.
“The baby is perfectly fine”The doctor answered but Victor I didn't even notice him when he entered. Victor shook his hands and looked at Erica.
"What did she do to Fyneface to make him order his men to beat her up like this? What is she even looking for here? Why didn't she stay in Calabar?" Victor thought.
“Sir your wife should quit taking harmful substance like liquor and cigarettes because it will harm the baby. She should also take care of her health” The doctor explained but Victor turned to him about to correct him that Erica wasnt his wife when he dropped a bombshell.
“She should have started prenatal care since she is three months pregnant now” The doctor announced but Victor stood frozen in shock as he looked at Erica.
When they had sex in Calabar, it hasn't even been up to two months yet and she's three months pregnant.
"That means this baby is not mine. Jeez! I almost killed myself because of someone else child" Victor said and immediately
the doctor left, Victor instructed his bodyguards,
“As soon as she's awake and she's alright, send her back to Calabar immediately. I have to go somewhere important” Victor explained but as he walked out, none of them noticed Erica discreetly opening her eyes or stare at him with a vicious expression but Victor lost all focus as he walked out with one intention in mind and that was to find Josephine.
"Hello you have to help me find all you can about Josephine" Victor told his private investigator.
"Sir what's her last name?" The investigator asked but Victor screamed
"Shit! I forgot to ask for her last name. now I'll have to go back to the hospital" Victor said quickly ended the call and rushed back to the hospital.
On getting there he was informed by one of the nurses that she quit.
“Please check for her last name on your staffs information and I'll reward you handsomely” Victor pleaded with the nurse who finally agreed and directed him to the receptionist but when he confronted her, she nodded and checked before shaking her head negatively.
“I'm Sorry sir but it's just Josephine, no last name and no address" The receptionist answered breaking the tiny piece of hope he had left then Victor walked out of the hospital feeling dejected.
Why do I feel this way? Like... like I've lost something important. "Where are you Josephine? Where are you?" Victor muttered painfully.
As soon as Erica noticed the last person left the room, she opened her eyes slowly and winced in pain.
"Ouch! My whole body aches. Fyneface is really a monster and It's because of that bitch that he sent his men to beat me up like this. What he did to me has literally killed any affection I ever had for him and I quit.
I don't care what dad says or does but I'm not chasing after that lovestruck fool anymore" Erica lamented but then she looked around the room and suddenly remembered that she was in Victor's house then she smiled.
"Unlike Fyneface he sent his men to rescue me. He even ordered them to bring me to his mansion and I heard that he doesn't bring women to his mansion. That means I'm actually the first woman he has brought here" Erica smiled again and touched her stomach but remembering what the doctor said earlier, a frown wiped off the smile on my face.
"The baby in me is three months old so that means it's actually for someone and Fyneface already knows. God why do I have such bad luck? Erica said as he glared at her stomach.
"Why isn't this bastard for Fyneface? Why does it have to be for another person? Victor is the second richest after Fyneface and I would have made quite a fortune if this baby was actually for him" But it's for Silas that only means that the money he gets from hacking and the one I also give him.
No now I won't accept this. Victor wants a baby mama so I'll be his baby mama and I don't care if this baby belongs to him or not he just has to accept it".
"But first, I'll have to find a way to stop his men from sending me back to Calabar. I need something to blackmail Victor with and once I do that, he'll be mine and father won't even feel disappointed that I didn't win Fyneface's heart.
Fyneface is not the only jackpot because I've got another pot of gold" Erica laughed heartily at her ploy
"He's name shall be called Martins. Martins Victor" Erica said as she stroked her tummy lightly.
"I don't know what to call this baby? Is it a good news or bad news? I'll have to call Silas as soon as possible to help me out" Erica said.
Fyneface couldn't stop thinking of what his private investigator said to him on the phone.
"How could she have done this to kitty? To my poor Kitty. What wrong did kitty or my baby do to deserve this from her? I already called the police but it's too late to go there now so I'll have to go tomorrow and I can't let kitty know about it" Fyneface said marching forward to his room.
He was few steps away from his room when he remembered that Fiona haven't eaten dinner so he turned around and went to her room.
When he got there the door was locked and he tried opening it but to no avail so he slowly knocked on the door.
"It's either she's asleep or she is just ignoring me" Fyneface thought as he kept knocking numerous times but there was no answer.
“Fiona honey can we talk? Just give your favorite cousin two minutes, I only need two minutes”Fyneface said loud enough to ensure she could hear him but still no answer.
“Fiona I...,” Fyneface called but he couldn't finish because she interrupted him
“Go away, just leave”Fiona shouted then he sighed,
"Okay maybe I was too harsh on her earlier" Fyneface admitted and decided to apologise
“I just want to talk to you honey please don't be mad at me” Fyneface said softly.
“No, I don't want to talk to you so just leave” Fiona answered back shouting.
"That's it, she's still mad at me. I'll apologise when she's no longer angry I'll just go and talk to Newstyle first because I have to tell him about the call" But as Fyneface turned around to leave, he didn't notice the light reflection from his pocket that blinked several times before finally stopping.
Did I do or say something wrong? I've sent over a hundred messages to her but no reply and she's online" Paschal sighed looking around his luxurious room. Thanks to Fyneface for being a good boss because it was only the reason of being with him that he was able to afford all these luxury.
He called her again but no answer.
"Jeez! Why does this always happen to me? I've never had a single luck with love before and just when I thought I found her all this happened. Why is she ignoring my messages?" Paschal complained as he switched off his phone and concentrated with his workload with a heavy heart.
"Maybe she's not the one for me" He lamented sadly.

The next morning when Josephine got home, she immediately postdated before her aunt
“Aunt please you can't do this to me. I'll do any work you want me to do except this” Josephine pleased as she knelt down pleading profusely but her aunt sneered and looked down at her.
