Chapter 33: The fire in Blackrock City

Shit! Shit! Shit!

Early morning before sunrise. From the top of the fort, David Nixon looked somber when he saw the massive army that had gathered not far from the city.

As the name suggests, a fort is a building used for defense, similar to a castle. You could say there were three main types of buildings for high ranking nobles. The three buildings are palaces, castles, and fortresses.

Palace is a building that can be regarded as the center of the kingdom or empire. The building is also where the Royal Family lives. While castles and forts actually have a similar function, which as a symbol of status and shelter. Both of them also have the same characteristics, which are hard to attack and easy to defend.

the difference is of course the shape of the building. The castle usually looks taller than the fortress. Also, both are built in different locations. Castles were usually built on hills or low mountains, where it was difficult for the enemy to reach. While the fort is usually in a flatter place and is in a location on the border with other regions.

Despite being in the fort, David feels uncomfortable. Especially after hearing that the boy he insulted was actually a high-level demon. He gritted his teeth, feeling the humiliation Azel gave him.

With his skills, Azel should be able to infiltrate the fort and carry out the massacre. But the young man didn't do that at all and chose to lead the 5 Viscounts he had appointed to fight David. Clearly, the young man intended to use the Nixon Family as a stepping stone as well as a threat to the neighboring territories.

"I came to report, sir!" shouted a knight approaching David.

What's wrong? Has Prince Azazel finally accepted my apology? asked David hopefully.

After hearing that Azel was a level 5 (intermediate) Demon, David immediately sent an apology letter and chose to give up. He said that he would give up his territory and peerage. But there was absolutely no answer.

Instead of answering immediately, the knight brought some parchments and gave them to David. When he saw the contents of the parchment, the middle-aged man looked pale and dispirited. In the parchment, Azel mentioned that he had sent the original documents regarding David's relationship with Marquis Lawyer to the Royal Capital.

In seven days, the 5 Viscounts not only swept through villages and towns. They are also given a mission to retrieve documents and records of any transactions related to David. Sure enough, their efforts paid off. Small pieces of evidence gather and become undeniable evidence.

If at first David had attempted to move into Marquis Bathory's territory, now he was unable to do so. If he forced his way, Marquis Bathory would also turn him down to play it safe. After all, now he had become a traitor to the Black Sun Empire. He couldn't run.

Seeing the rising sun, David closed his eyes. Even though he was arrogant and cunning, the middle-aged man knew that everything was over. Not only him, even the knights felt hopeless. They realize that they have done many bad things and that they cannot be forgiven.

The sound of trumpets was heard from a distance followed by the sound of hooves. Troops from all sides rushed towards Blackrock City.

Seeing that sight, David roared at the top of his lungs.

"Prepare the troops! Defend the gates! I know we can't win, but we also can't just sit and wait for death!

My people... at least bring one person to go die with you!!!"

***

At the southern city gate, a violent explosion sounded.

The solid gate was completely destroyed. When the puff of smoke cleared, a black Minotaur was seen carrying a giant axe. Without waiting for the opponent to react, the creature roared.

"Brothers, show the world our power... Minotaurs! Slay the enemy! Show the Lord that we deserve his trust!"

Following Asterious's exclamation, shout after shout filled with excitement was heard. In the blink of an eye, the infantrymen of the Minotaur tribe entered the inner city starting to overwhelm their opponents. Behind them, an army of Gnolls and Trolls also came.

"N-No! We... We surrender!" shouted one of the knight leaders under David Nixon. "We will-"

BRUAK!

Before finishing his sentence, the knight's head flew up into the air. The headless body immediately fell down and red liquid started to soak the ground.

At the time when the people were stunned, Asterious' furious voice sounded.

"You remember what Lord Azazel said??? WIPE THEM OUT!!!" Asterious shouted.

"ОООННН!!!"

The warriors of the Minotaur tribe seemed to have higher spirits while the opposing knights were becoming more and more desperate. Bloody scenes can be seen everywhere afterwards.

Unlike the south gate, the east gate is more difficult to penetrate because there is a large area and many archers guarding the walls. It made it hard for the knights to advance. At that moment, the sound of arrows tearing through the air was heard.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Not just one or two arrows, but the sound of arrows constantly being heard. When the knights looked up the wall. The opposing side's archers fell one by one. One arrow is worth one life, truly a terrible thing.

The moment they looked where the arrows had come from, people were shocked to see a beautiful Dark Elf sitting on a black horse with an indifferent expression. She continued to draw the bowstring and shoot arrows like an automatic archer.

"What are you daydreaming about! The opportunity is already open! ATTACK!!!" Viscount Lawrence shouted as he galloped toward the east gate.

Although the middle-aged man was amazed by the abilities of Azel's underlings, he knew what to prioritize now. After all, the middle-aged man didn't want to appear bad in front of his new master.

Troops led by Viscount Lawrence and Viscount Carter immediately advanced through the eastern gate.

A similar scene also occurred at the north gate. Viscount Foster and two others led troops to attack the north gate. Due to their large numbers and fewer knights stationed in the north, they broke through easily.

Things are different in the west. Besides the Minotaurs, Gnolls, and Trolls who were attacking the south, another Heteromorphic race was waiting at the western gate. The gate that defines hope or despair. If they could escape through the west gate, they could go to Marquis Bathory's territory which was several kilometers away from the city.

Here Azel was clearly testing the loyalty of the Orcs. As for the Goblins, they are a bit lacking in sense and love to fight. To be more precise, they were like cannon fodder.

Just as Azel had expected, a vicious fight broke out at the west gate. But the Orcs weren't vegetarian either, they really did a good job. None of the enemies managed to escape or escape.

Azel who was at the front of the camp without advancing to battle was satisfied when he saw Blackrock City which was covered in flames. Unlike the usual protracted battles, by the afternoon, the war had reached its end.

A critical feeling suddenly came over Azel. Looking to the west, the young man saw black clouds that had almost completely covered the evening sky, making the world even darker. However when he saw using the 'Eye of The Lord', the young man's face turned pale. The reason is ...

What came from the west were not storm clouds, but countless locust demons that covered the sky.
