Chapter 42: The Mission (1)
After leaving the mission hall, Gu Chen noticed that some of the senior disciples that came from the second peak was observing Ye Ling's every movement
All of a sudden, one of the senior disciple form the second peak approached him out of no where "Good morning junior brother Li"
Gu Chen act as he was flustered seeing that someone had approached him out of nowhere
"Ye-yeah good morning to you too senior brother. How can I address you senior brother?" the senior disciple replied to Gu Chen so that
"Ahh right, this is the first time we meet each other, my name is Bai Cheng from the second peak" The senior disciple said as he puffed his hand at his chest
"Nice to meet you senior brother Bai, then how can I help you?" Gu Chen pretended not to know the purpose of Bai Cheng
"It is nothing serious junior brother, I am just curious of the mission you just accepted from the mission hall, as one of my junior brother is also taking it, do you mind telling me the content of your mission?" Bai Cheng asked with a huge smile on his face, if Gu Chen didn't know the purpose of this Bai Cheng from the system, he might have also been fooled
'If you are so curious of your junior brother's mission, why don't you ask him yourself' Gu Chen thought to himself as this senior Bai Cheng lacks in the logic department
"Ahh, is the junior brother you mentioned the one called Ye Ling?" As Gu Chen spoke the expression of Bai Cheng changed for a millisecond before returning to normal, but the change was caught by Gu Chen

"I see. If you are wondering what my mission is, you could take a look at it." Gu Chen handed the mission scroll to Bai Cheng as if he was clueless with the later's plan
"Then thank you junior brother Li." Bai Cheng let out a genuine smile seeing that he had accomplished his goal
"But senior brother Bai, why don't you ask Ye Ling himself if you are so curious about his mission?" Gu Chen asked
"...., Junior brother Li, my junior brother Ye Ling is a prodigy among prodigies, and he is already announced that he is the successor of the second peak. It would be bad if he is targeted by other with bad intentions, so we agreed to send people to guard Ye Ling in secret. The reason why we don't let Ye Ling know is simply because we don't want to touch his ego" Bai Cheng explained thoroughly as if he was a kind senior disciple caring for his junior
"I see. Ye Ling must be happy to have a senior brother like senior brother Bai, then senior brother, this junior will take his leave first." Gu Chen said as he cupped both of his hand with a smile on his face
"Sure, sure junior brother Li, be extra careful on your mission. Although the reward might seem generous, safety is more important" Bai Cheng said as his eyes returned to a crescent moon shaped
As Gu Chen turned around and leave, both Gu Chen and Bai Cheng had the same exact thoughts regarding each other 'What a fool! hehehe'
Time passed by and Gu Chen had left the sect to do his 'mission' when he suddenly remembered something

'Why does this Bai Cheng not recognized as a villain by you?' Gu Chen asked curiously as if one think it through, Bai Cheng is planning to kill Ye Ling. However, Gu Chen didn't get a notification that mentioned anything about a villain
[The person named Bai Cheng is not recognized as a villain because he never confronted Ye Ling directly until the end of his life, even this assassination plan was done thoroughly and could never be traced back to him]
'But he should still count as a villain right, this just don't make sense system'

'I see..' Gu Chen didn't truly get it but he could get the sense of where the system is coming from
A villain is not necessarily a bad person, and only if someone is hated by a protagonist that a villain is born.
Moving on with his thinking, Gu Chen called up the alpha squad "Come forth"
As soon as Gu Chen said those words, 12 figures dressed in white appeared in front of him and alpha spoke "Why have you called Young master?"
"I want you to track this person and report to me his every movement" Gu Chen materialized the image of Ye Ling using his spiritual power so that the alpha squad could recognize their target
"I understand young master" The alpha squad took a look at the image and memorized it into their brain and immediately disappeared from Gu Chen's sight

Beta returned to Gu Chen's location as he said "Young master, the person you are looking for is currently in a city called Fenghua City. Fenghua city is a major city under the jurisdiction of the great Xiao family and the city lord himself is a 1st stage Venerable expert."
Hearing beta's report, Gu Chen just replied "You did a great job, now we will head over to Fenghua city."
As Beta is a peak venerable level powerhouse, it only took them 10 minutes to arrive at Fenghua city
Fenghua city is one of the most glamorous city and it is full with people from all over the world, Gu Chen even paid 100 gold as an entrance fee just to enter the city, 10 times more expensive than the entrance fee of Nanjing city
'Well, it is one of the core cities ruled by the Xiao anyway.' Gu Chen muttered as 100 gold was like a drop of water in an ocean compared to his total wealth
"Where is the one I am looking for?" Gu Chen asked Beta, who is now disguised as his butler
"The person you are looking for is currently eating inside Fenghua City's most expensive restaurant and it is right around the corner." Beta replied as he pointed at a tall building that is over 4 stories tall
Gu Chen didn't reply and just walked to the building that Beta pointed

Walking inside the restaurant, Gu Chen found out that all of the tables inside the first floor was full, when suddenly a waitress walked over to him and said "How can I help you young master?" The waitress thought that Gu Chen must have came from a powerful family as he is very good looking
"I am here to eat, party for two." Gu Chen replied shortly
"Yes certainly young master. However, the first and second floors is currently fully occupied, does the young master mind eating at the third floor? The third floor is a VIP where only the powerful could eat and the minimum spending at the third floor is 5000 gold."
"Okay."
Gu Chen and Beta was lead by the waitress towards the third floor where he saw a familiar figure sitting with a girl that had long blazing red hair with gorgeous black eyes, eating and chatting happily.
