“You’re going to have to explain this to me again,” Adel said, sitting between my legs. Fin stood guard, growling occasionally at the bending and flexing shadows that sat in the corner.

“Which part?” I asked her to smile at her bright green eyes while I tucked her hair behind her shoulders.

“How can we be here, Nix? Where is here exactly? How can you be here, and Fin be there?”

“I don’t know exactly the rules of all of this, my love,” I began. “There’s been an incident.”

“Are you okay? Did something happen to you, Nix?” Adel asked her, brow furrowing with concern.

“What was the last thing you remember?” I asked my mate, praying to the goddess I was doing this right.
