It was like the worst nightmare I could ever have imagined, and it happened all in slow motion. When you are a young pup, they sit you down and teach you about mate bonds. They tell you about the connection some mates have. How some mates show up in the subconscious like a guiding star always leading you in the right direction, ensuring you never stray too far from home.

How sometimes mates show up physically but only in one's dreams. But rarely one will share a bond so pure that the mate will have a connection so strong that their souls will fuse as one. That the mates will sense one another in their minds so familiar like their wolves.
