Chapter 28: Chapter 28

"How are you feeling Ingvild?" Damian asked, barely lifting his head from the floor to look at his queen who was also looking at him, perhaps because of their connection but more likely because of his words.

A tense silence surrounded the trio as Ingvild's tired mind moved to find a proper response. To Damian it was more awkward than anything but for Serfall, Ingvild's response would dictate her reaction and whether she would have to kill another descendant of the original Satans.

"Am I your wife now?" Ingvild inquired innocently, her head titled to the side. While Serafall didn't have any overwhelming show of surprise such as falling to the ground she was clearly shocked beyond belief, her mouth agape and her eyes stretched as wide as possible.

Serafall had expected many responses ranging from arrogant words that directly contradicted Damian's confidence or even confused mumbling but never would she have expected such a blunt question.

"Dia-chan! What did you say to this poor child☆?" Serafall shouted, somehow hugging Ingvild close to her chest before Damian could even react. With just one question Ingvild had won her heart and turned her against the 'student' of her close friend.

"Like I said, I didn't have much time." Damian replied calmly, forcing his tired body into a standing position. "Anyways, to answer your question you aren't my wife, you're my Queen. It's similar though." Damian explained as he made his way toward her as calmly as he could.

Every movement he made sent a jolt of pain through his body but it wasn't anything that he couldn't handle. The past him that had yet to be reincarnated would have cried like a baby though.

"You don't about the Evil Pieces Ing-chan☆?" Serafall asked the young girl she held to her chest in confusion. From what she gathered, Ingvild was only a hundred years old whereas the Evil Pieces had been around for over five hundred years.

"I've heard about them but I don't know what they are." Ingvild spoke softly, her tone apologetic despite having nothing to apologize for. Looking down at the cute creature in her arms Serafall's shock at such a strange revelation was overwhelmed by her desire to see Ingvild in a magic girl outfit.

"You're so cute☆!" Serafall shouted, hugging Ingvild even tighter to her chest. If it weren't for the two cushions helping her Ingvild would almost certainly be in a world of pain. Serafall was good at controlling herself as an experienced woman but in moments like these Damian found that fact hard to trust.

"Listen to me before you pass out alright?" Damian requested Ingvild whose droopy eyes appeared to be on the brink of passing out. "I'm Damian Thaumiel, the heir to a lesser devil nobility and your master but you don't have to think of me that way. When you wake up, well be in my home so don't be too surprised." Damian explained briefly.

Ingvild kept her eyes open as much as possible but once she could tell he was done talking she instantly succumbed to sleep, her head naturally resting on Serafall's chest as she softly took slow breaths.

"I thought she was cured☆?" Serafall asked softly, gently running her hand through Ingvild's lavender hair. She was having second thoughts about giving Ingvild to Damian since she wanted to see her So-tan and Ingvild dressed as magic girls together.

But what was done was done and there was no room to regret. Even if they had been the ones to find her, Damian was the one who woke Ingvild up. Without him, she would have just kept sleeping until her sacred gear naturally awakened or the building ran out of energy and she died.

"She isn't. Her sacred gear woke her up but she'll still be sleeping more than twice the common devil. Hopefully, the time she spends asleep will lessen with time but I'm not exactly filled with confidence." Damian explained bluntly as he brought a chair out of his storage and took a seat.

All in all, the day had been a resounding success but there were obvious downsides, mainly the pain he'll be feeling for the next few weeks if not months. It would go away without a trace in time but in the meantime, he'll have to get used to it.

"I can help you if you want☆." Serafall offered kindly, a playful grin on her face as she made a gesture with her hand. "Of course, it'll cost you☆!" She teased playful, her eyes filled with amusement.

"And what's the price? I can't imagine enlisting the help of a Satan is within my budget." Damian replied dryly. Having a price on the services of a Satan itself was a comical idea as it simply wasn't possible.

Not only were they already spread thin doing their respective work but their services merely couldn't be valued with money alone. They were powerful beings, leaders of one of the strongest factions, and their time was more valuable than anything else.

"Be friends with Sona." Serafall spoke softly, her usual cheer replaced by the worry of an older sibling. "She's a lonely girl and while Rias is friends with her she could use more. If you do that I'll see what I can do." She continued softly, a warm but worried grin on her face.

"I can do that." Damian agreed without hesitation. It was a good deal and he already had plans to befriend Sona even if only to the level of acquaintances. There was only one issue. "Are you sure this is enough? This is purely beneficial to me." Damian inquired casually.

"Well, since you insist I'll add another condition☆! Be nice to your Queen☆! If I hear you made her cry the magical girl Levia-tan will come beat you up!" Serafall declared playfully but her words were both sincere and horrifying.

"I had no plans on it but now I'll make sure not to." Damian replied with an awkward chuckle. He might be overly paranoid or exhausted but he swore that he saw death when Serafall said it. It was definitely because of the exhaustion though.

Serafall suffered from the sin of envy and that manifested in being envious of whoever spent time with her dear sister, that was true. But Serafall was smart, she wouldn't kill him just because…

'She would do that wouldn't she?' Damian thought to himself, a shiver running down his back.
