Ava was extremely mad. I was no better. She had left without anyone else. Had she been following us? If she had than surely one of us would have noticed. We had noticed when she had gotten closer to us. Even so I had no leg to stand on. My mate was a Warrior who had come out with her Pack. A pack that was looking at me with contempt. It was odd to think of them as that aware. I held her to me and accepted that she might be the reason my brother lived.
With that in mind where were Jiksi and the other flyers? Why had one of them not seen my mate? Not accompanied her? Or better yet sent her back to the village. I felt my face sting and saw my mates face turn red. Her eyes narrowed. Some part of my body recognized the threat in her stance but it did not connect with the gentle mate I had known. My tongue flicked out catching her scent once more. Anger. She had begun to calm in my arms and now she was angry once more.
