Chapter 77: The X-Men 2

"So you knew about us, I thought we had done a good job hiding, only a few government officials and S.H.I.E.L.D. know about us, but Professor Xavier made a deal with Nick Fury to keep our school off the government's radar," said Jean.

"You've done a great job, the few people who know about you think it's just an urban legend, some other heroes like the Fantastic Four might know about you, but people are afraid of the mind control and mind reading that you and Professor Xavier can do," said Jack smiling.

Hearing this, Jean became tense. She wasn't too surprised that someone as powerful as Jack, who was a mage, could know about them, but knowing about her and Professor Xavier's powers that were a secret was unexpected.

"In fact, I know about the powers of most of the mutants here, but since you want to live in peace, you don't need to worry about me. I'm a hero, I don't want to attack anyone who's living in peace," said Jack, smiling.

"You're right, the mutants here at the Xavier Institute are only the ones who want peace and know how difficult it is to live in society, so we live here, hidden," said Jean.

"In the last few years, other mutants from the Xavier Institute killed the leader of the Hellfire Club and other members who wanted to kill humans, and some of the Hellfire Club members came here," said Jean.

"The other part of the Hellfire Club that still wants to harm humans is with Magneto in the Brotherhood of Mutants, we are the ones fighting against them and stopping them from doing harm to humans," said Jean.

Jack was happy to know that just by saying a few things, he was able to get the information he wanted. Fortunately, Jack discovered that Wanda and Pietro Maximoff had origins in the cinema and were not Magneto's children, and were not with the Brotherhood of Mutants.

But Jack knew that Jean was saying all of this because they didn't want to start a war with humanity. Mutants, as Jean said, didn't consider themselves humans because of their powers, and that's why Alpha and Omega mutants who could live among humans hide.

The two didn't speak any more until they entered the X-mansion. Inside, Jack saw several children he didn't recognize and saw some well-known mutants like Storm, Beast, Rogue, Iceman, Rachel Summers, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Angel, Magik, Shadowcat, Hope Summers, X-23, Jubilee, Colossus, Wolverine, and Professor X.

Jack didn't know the others and had no interest in the weirder or weaker mutants. He had no prejudice; he just didn't care, just as he didn't care about billions of humans he didn't know. Of course, he would save them if he could.

Some mutants seemed to be well over 30 years old and were the most well-known mutants. Rogue, Iceman, Rachel Summers, Jubilee, X-23, Magik, Hope Summers, and Shadowcat seemed to be over 18 but younger than Jack.

Jack had given up a long time ago trying to understand the timeline of this Marvel universe, so he waited for someone to speak to him. After all, it was strange to start a conversation with someone when more than 30 people were looking at him.

"Battle Sage, I didn't expect your visit to the Xavier Institute, but you are welcome here. I'm sorry we can't help in the fight against the aliens, but you know we are trying to hide," said Charles Xavier.

"I understand, Professor Xavier. Mrs. Grey has already told me that you want peace and have an agreement with S.H.I.E.L.D. I came here myself because Wolverine participated in the Battle of New York," said Jack.

"I don't really have a prejudice against mutants. In fact, I think you are ordinary humans with abilities, and some people have abilities that make your appearance different."

"But I don't expect you to believe me. I understand why you think you're different from humans and call yourselves mutants, and I respect your decision to hide to avoid problems with humans without abilities."

"I heard from Mrs. Grey that you even fought against other mutants who are terrorists, so don't worry about me. Now, I would like to talk to Professor Xavier and other leaders of yours. After all, I feel uncomfortable talking to so many people," Jack said, laughing.

Jack didn't want to make a speech, but he didn't expect all the mutants to be staring at him when he entered the X-mansion. Even without reading their minds, Jack felt through his mind gem that they were concerned and afraid because they knew he was very powerful and could represent the Avengers.

Since the X-Men had many mutants, they didn't think they would lose the fight, but many of them would die if they faced the Avengers, and they could no longer hide their identities from ordinary people and would be persecuted.

That's why Jack had to say what he really thought, and he saw that it calmed almost everyone, even though some still distrusted him. Professor Xavier called Jack to his office, and Storm, Beast, Cyclops, Wolverine, and Jean Grey followed.

"Battle Sage, I think I'll keep calling you that since I don't know your name. What is your intention of coming to the Xavier Institute even knowing that we are hiding?" Charles said.

"You don't know my name because you can't read my mind. I felt you try a few times since I arrived at the X-mansion. That's a bad habit, always trying to know other people's secrets, Professor Xavier," Jack said.

When Jack said that, the other mutants became tense. They knew Charles well and knew that he usually did that, but unlike Jack, they couldn't know when he was trying to read their minds, but even as allies, they didn't like it.

"I'm sorry about that. I was worried about seeing someone so powerful coming here, especially after the battle of New York. The mutants are tense after seeing that, but I must say that it's rare for someone to be immune to my powers without using an accessory or being a mutant," Charles said.

"Let's not talk about that anymore. I didn't come here to tell my secrets or how my powers work. I came here because I know you want peace, and you can help, just like Wolverine helped in the battle of New York," Jack said.

"I want to be a friend of the X-Men, help you when you can't stop Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants, and other people or monsters that you can't face," Jack said, looking at Jean.
