Chapter 64: Pression

Dr José exclaims: 'Director Hart? What? I doubt the control room sent you to check out a security incident!'

Director Hart says coldly, 'it not control room sent me, you idiot. I smelled a strong odour of blood coming from that direction. I can't say I was very surprised when I remembered it was one of the candidate induction days.'

Doctor Jose says, 'Well, I can explain everything...'

Director Hart holds up a finger and says, 'You'd better shut up, cockroach, if you don't want to die.'

The atmosphere was frosty. Director Hart exuded an aura of absolute power - not only because she was a rare A-rank hunter, but also because she was a woman of brutal charisma and authority, whom every man working for the academy feared far more than any Zombie.

Suddenly, Alexander emerged naked and covered in blood from the room where the incident had taken place. 'All right, then I'll explain, Headmaster!'

Director Hart looked from head to toe at Alexander's imposing physique, covered in blood. 'Who are you? What are you doing here?'

He replied: 'I'm Alexander HautVille and I've just joined the academy. The guard opened the door for me when he saw that the situation was getting out of hand, and it was I who put the three infected out of their misery! If you want proof, just look at the security camera recording!'

The headmistress didn't reply, just looked at the two rooms on either side. Her gaze lingered on the hole in Alexander's window for almost a minute. Finally, she shrugged and said: 'HautVille, right? You should know that when you've reached a level similar to mine, you'll be able to distinguish lies from truth at a glance.'

The headmistress turned and started to leave, saying, 'Clean up this mess, and fast.'

Alexander took the opportunity to scan the headmistress as she walked away. Meanwhile, the doctor and the security guard looked almost bemused that they had managed to get away without losing their jobs.

'Did you really have to bring me into this?' complained Edward. 'I thought you said you'd take responsibility for everything.'

'It was either you or the Professor,' said Alexander, 'and he's the one who'll be most useful to me later. Be thankful that I saved your life.' Then he looked at his Pip-Boy, seeing the results of his scan.

Alexander had a very bad feeling about this woman. Unlike the other two people in the room, Alexander wasn't afraid of her, but the fact that she was literally walking around with a skull and crossbones and a Nazi slogan on her arm worried him deeply. She seemed dedicated to an extremist ideology and didn't care who knew her.

A few minutes after Director Hart left, two doctors and two other members of security arrived and began to clear the combat zone.

Alexander looks seriously at José and says, 'Given what you know now, I don't suppose there's any need to extend the quarantine for me?'

Dr José raises an eyebrow. Dr José raises an eyebrow: 'I suppose not. But, you know... We've got some business to settle. Come with me in the lift and we can discuss what you want from me.'
