Chapter 804: Chapter 803 "Heading To Metropolis"

It has been three weeks since the last attack by Bruce and Gordon.

During this time, Bruce seemed to have figured something out and refrained from intervening in Jerry's killings.

Instead, he leveraged the Wayne family's immense economic power to stabilize Gotham City's economy, which was at risk due to the deaths of numerous key figures.

Now, all the gangs in Gotham City have been forced to disband. Most of the ruthless leaders are dead, and the influential figures of the ancient families backing these gangs have also met their demise.

Even many high-ranking government officials have not escaped the wave of killings. Remarkably, the lives of ordinary civilians have remained largely unaffected.

In a way, the criminals of Gotham supported its own economy, which makes living in Gotham sustainable through whatever means necessary.

With most of the key players gone to the dust after Jerry's absolute judge of good and evil, the ones who were lucky enough to survive have chosen to leave Gotham and start either a righteous career or skip town entirely for the sake of avoiding the divine justice on their way.

Each victim left behind a confession, yet the killer remained unseen. The people of Gotham City have dubbed this series of events the "Heavenly Punishment," believing that even God could no longer tolerate Gotham's sins and had sent divine retribution to purge the wicked.

Only Batman, Bruce Wayne, knows the truth: it was a cat responsible for all this, though the true identity of this cat might as well be an unknown god. With Gotham's intricate web of interests ruthlessly dismantled, crime in the city has nearly vanished, with only minor thefts occurring occasionally.

The atmosphere in Gotham has undergone a significant transformation. More people are venturing out at night, and night markets, once inconceivable in Gotham, have begun to appear. Many former gangsters, once wielding machetes and pistols, have now become vendors in these night markets.

"Amato, Animo, Animato, Animagus!" Jerry chanted the Animagus transformation spell in his hotel room while Catwoman was out on a date with Batman.

Gradually, his body shifted from that of a cat to a human form, identical to his main body.

After three weeks of accumulating small red stars, his strength had nearly returned to its former peak, allowing him to create a new human body if he wished.

However, after careful consideration, he decided against this plan. Although his current cat body was obtained through natural means in this world and crafted by the panel's owner using unknown methods, the integration between his soul and cat body was perfect and flawless.

Sacrificing his current form is a hassle for him, instead he wishes to exploit the fact of this compatibility so he could easily deal with a lot of problems that a human body couldn't deal with.

Creating a new human body and transferring his soul into it would not achieve the same level of seamless integration. Thus, Jerry chose to remain in his cat form, continuing his silent and lethal vigil over Gotham.

Although this transformation wouldn't significantly impact his strength, Jerry worried it might attract the attention of the supreme creator of this world, which could lead to complications.

To play it safe, he decided to keep his cat form in this world. After all, he didn't need to worry about falling in love or getting married; his primary focus was exploring and enhancing his power. The form he took was inconsequential as long as it allowed him to achieve his goals.

However, to facilitate future actions, Jerry decided to modify the Animagus transformation.

The original Animagus transformation from the Harry Potter world was complex and risky, turning a wizard into an ordinary animal. Professor McGonagall's cat, Sirius Black's dog, and Peter Pettigrew's rat forms were all results of this spell.

The traditional process required holding a Mandrake leaf in one's mouth for a month during a full moon and then placing it in a crystal bottle with one's saliva to absorb moonlight. A

Later, a strand of hair, dew untouched by sunlight or humans for seven days, and a hawk moth pupa were added before hiding the mixture away from sunlight.

On a thunderstorm night, the potion would be consumed, and the spell chanted to complete the transformation. Any mistake could result in death, or if the wizard's resolve was weak, they might remain an animal permanently.

However, with Jerry's current magical prowess, such complexities were unnecessary.

Using his deep magical knowledge, he simplified the process, eliminating the need for elaborate steps and materials. Now, he only needed to chant a spell to switch between his cat and human forms, without affecting his magic.

The downside was that the transfiguration relied entirely on the spell and consumed magic power to maintain. This meant he had to divert energy to sustain the transfiguration, possibly slowing his reactions in battle.

Moreover, if he were injured, the magical disruption could revert him to his cat form.

Hence, in the face of stronger enemies, Jerry would need to revert to his cat form to unleash his full strength. After getting accustomed to his human form, Jerry transformed back into a cat.

He preferred this when Catwoman returned, as seeing him as a human might be awkward. While Catwoman might not be embarrassed, he certainly would be.

After spending time together with her, Jerry decided this would be the best course of action to approach her rather than coming to her in his original body.

With Gotham effectively purged of its criminals, Jerry pondered his next move. Although Gotham was infamous as a crime-ridden city, it lacked particularly powerful individuals, at least in the current universe and timeline he inhabited.

"What should we do next?" he mused, contemplating the future and the challenges that lay ahead.

"I wish there were strong villains that would pop up randomly in Gotham for a while, but I guess that's too much to ask... Besides, the city has transformed for the better!" Jerry continued with a small chuckle.

Ordinary criminal incidents no longer sparked Jerry's interest. The red stars earned from stopping a simple robbery provided less magic power than he could absorb in the same amount of time on his own.

Now, he sought a crisis of cataclysmic proportions, one capable of destroying a city or even the Earth, to earn a significant number of red stars.

In essence, he was looking for an entity he could absorb as nourishment to enhance his strength, much like he did with Dormammu's clone and the God Ego in the Marvel universe.

Of course, his current strength wasn't sufficient to handle such formidable beings. Ideally, he aimed to find adversaries weaker than those cosmic entities but still powerful enough to present a substantial challenge.

The main issue was that he wasn't sure which DC universe he had ended up in.

Like Marvel, DC had countless parallel universes, each with its own distinct stories. The information he could find about the DC universe in his current world was confusing and fragmented.

There were multiple versions of Batman, Catwoman, and Superman, with different storylines across movies, comics, and animations. The only certainty he had was the version of Catwoman, but her story offered no further clues after the movie ended.

As for Batman, his exact version remained unclear. What Jerry did know was that Bruce Wayne had returned to Gotham a few years ago, becoming Batman to fight criminals.

During this period, many admirers imitated him. His nemesis, the Joker, also fought him and was eventually locked up in Arkham Asylum.

"Maybe I should go to Metropolis," Jerry thought. "Although Superman hasn't appeared in this world yet, he must exist. If I can find him, I might be able to determine which universe I'm in."

With this new goal in mind, Jerry decided to head to Metropolis. He hoped that encountering Superman would provide the clues he needed to navigate this confusing world.

Besides, a city with a hero as powerful as Superman was bound to face significant threats, presenting opportunities for Jerry to earn more red stars and increase his strength.

How can he not be excited when knowing the fact that Superman fights strong supervillains on a daily basis?

This is his chance to amass more red stars for his purpose!
