Chapter 803: Chapter 802 "Compromised Batman"

"Quickly, restrain him!" Jerry commanded, gesturing with his tail. A steel cable materialized out of thin air, swiftly ensnaring Batman just as he attempted to flee through the window.

Bound tightly, Batman was then unceremoniously thrown to the ground.

"I won't let you have your way again! I will get the answer from your mouth tonight!" Batman remarked.

While Batman's new suit boasted the ability to absorb and neutralize energy, Jerry had a few tricks up his sleeve.

By employing low-level spells that targeted Batman directly, he could bypass the suit's defensive mechanisms. The magic dissipated harmlessly before it could take effect.

This defensive strategy, however, only countered magic that directly affected the body. Jerry possessed an arsenal of spells, some of which operated independently of physical reaction, as demonstrated by the rope spell he had just employed.

In truth, Jerry's newfound strength rendered Batman's defenses obsolete.

The suit's absorption and decomposition capabilities paled in comparison to Jerry's unrestrained power. Even the most potent magical assaults would likely overwhelm the suit's capabilities.

Yet Jerry harbored no intention of slaying Batman.

"I'm aware you're attempting to lure us into your prearranged battlefield. However, let me assure you that none of your tactics will impede me. You're wasting your time," Jerry remarked casually. "Oh, and I've forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Jerry."

Approaching the ensnared Batman, Jerry delved into his mind with ease, employing his mind-reading abilities.

Batman felt an overwhelming sense of powerlessness as he gazed at the feline before him. His meticulously crafted plans seemed insignificant in the face of this formidable cat.

Without hesitation, Jerry uttered a spell, "Obliviate!" The enchantment, however, was not directed at Batman but at Gordon and the group of officers who lay unconscious nearby.

"I've erased their memories of me," Jerry declared calmly. "Do not seek trouble, or I'll erase yours next. Consider this a warning. Furthermore, when Gordon awakens, reassure him. The pressures from higher-ups will soon dissipate."

Batman regarded Jerry with earnest concern. "Your methods are excessively harsh. The outcome may not align with your intentions. With your strength, why not proceed with caution? Together, we could improve Gotham."

Observing Jerry invoke the sinister Obliviate Spell, Batman realizes he can no longer contend with him. Such memory manipulation bordered on the unlawful.

Today, Batman found himself grappling with 10,000 plans against Jerry, but the Obliviate Spell wiped them clean from his mind. He couldn't even recall who Jerry was. How could he possibly fight back?

Thus, Batman pondered and opted to pivot his strategy, "I know there is a way to catch that sly cat... but how?" For the first time in his life, after fighting against the criminals of Gotham, Batman felt lost...

Adaptability wasn't foreign to him; after all, he transformed into Batman nightly to combat crime. If Jerry's methods had been less severe and his body count had been lower, Batman might have welcomed another crime-fighter to Gotham.

Unable to halt Jerry's actions, Batman resolved to seek cooperation and effect change in Gotham together.

However, Jerry shook his head and, with a flick of his tail, opened two portals—one leading to Wayne Manor and the other to the Gotham City Police Department.

"The rotten area must be excised entirely, or it will only fester further," Jerry asserted.

He acknowledged the validity of Batman's perspective. Collaborating with Batman could, over time, transform the decrepit city of Gotham.

"You know, there is a reason why we meet. Why don't you look forward for that reason instead?" Jerry teased.

Meanwhile, Batman scoffed at him, "Meeting with a bat changed my life for once; now, meeting a cat?"

Yet, Jerry believed that his current methods, though drastic, offered only a temporary solution.

Once he departed, those eliminated would be swiftly replaced, and the city would regress to its former state.

In the end, Gotham will likely remain unchanged, perhaps with a slight improvement in restraint.

However, Jerry's primary objective isn't to transform Gotham into a peaceful utopia; rather, it's to swiftly eliminate criminals to earn little red stars and restore his strength.

This is to prevent the loss of an avatar due to unforeseen circumstances before it reaches its full potential. It's also in line with the desires of the panel's owner.

With divergent goals, their thoughts and actions cannot align.

Nevertheless, once Jerry eradicates all the criminals in Gotham, Batman can commence the arduous task of reforming the city, leading to gradual improvement. Yet, this transformation will come at the cost of more lives.

Observing the appearance of the portals, Catwoman intuitively grasps Jerry's intentions. Without hesitation, she whips Gordon and the others, tossing them into the portal leading to the police station.

She then retrieves Batman and leaps into the portal leading to Wayne Manor.

"Don't worry about me. I'll find my own way back!" she calls out as she disappears.

"Take care," Jerry replies with a grin. After a moment's thought, he conjures a box of Durex and tosses it into the portal before sealing it shut.

She's truly a woman of bold emotions, unafraid to express love and disdain alike. One battle isn't enough for her; she's ready for the next challenge.

"Master Bruce has returned!" Alfred's anxiety propels him into the bedroom upon hearing movement. Knowing Batman was facing a formidable feline adversary, he had stayed awake all night, consumed by worry.

However, as he steps inside, he's rendered speechless.

Batman, clad in his Batman suit, is bound on the bed. A woman, leather-clad with a whip in hand, stands over him. Nearby lies a box of Durex.

Could this scene be...?

"My spectacles must have slipped off. It's late; I'll just retire for the night," Alfred mumbles to himself, rubbing his eyes as he hurriedly exits the room, closing the door behind him.

"The youth these days are so twisted! I never knew Master Bruce himself to indulge in that kind of desire!" he mutters to himself, already retreating to his own quarters.

"Alfred," Batman begins to explain, realizing the misunderstanding, but it's too late. Alfred has already disappeared into his room.

"The miss in a catsuit, could you please come down here?"

"You lead a life of luxury, yet you risk it all to combat criminals. Your story must be fascinating. Would you share it with me sometime?" Catwoman's voice carries a hint of curiosity as she gently lifts Batman's chin with her finger.

Batman responds with a subtle movement of his eyes, indicating his agreement. "If you're willing to share your tale about that cat called Jerry, then I'd be happy to tell you mine."

Unaware of Catwoman's true connection to felines and lacking substantial information about her identity, Batman remains intrigued.

Catwoman, contemplating Jerry's discretion, nods in agreement. "There's no secret I can't reveal to you."

Half an hour later, Batman utters in astonishment, "Could he possibly be a deity?"

"Quite possibly; I mean, he can easily figure out whose power that has been blessed to me. On the other hand, he could use magic as well." Catwoman replied.

According to Catwoman's account, Jerry conversed with the Egyptian cat goddess who had resurrected her upon their initial encounter. Speaking so casually with a divine entity strongly suggests Jerry's own divine nature.

It dawns on Batman that the world holds mysteries beyond his comprehension.
