Chapter 10: Chapter 9: Spider Trouble

"Damn…. What's his problem."

Vincent wondered, knowing fully he was met at a stalemate.

If he went for the chest, they would chase him down and kill him, probably slowly and painfully as he knows they hate him. On the other hand, if he stood here, it would disappear eventually but on third hand, there are three other chests which he could get underground.

He chose the third option, leaving the wolves as he climbed back down.

"Hmm, I still have to train with the spear…wait could I just..." Vincent said as he summoned the spear.

He walked over to an empty part of the room, placing the spear on the ground before summoning an axe.

"Hopefully this works." Vincent muttered before slicing down at some point of the spear, it didn't break so Vincent struck again and again and again.

Turns out the wood was very durable, and it took him ten hits to finally slice it into two pieces.

He dropped the axe, picking up the two parts of the spear or rather short spear and dagger. The spear was originally 2 meters long, so he roughly estimated one and a half meters of the spear and the other half for the dagger.

Although Vincent was proficient with blades, how could he fight small creatures with daggers? He was already 5"8 despite his age so he would be at a great disadvantage.

He placed the dagger down before gripping the spear before performing some movements and attacks with it. After a while, he stopped, sighing as he drifted his eyes elsewhere.

"Yeah"

"I know but still…"

"What do you take for, a fool?"

"Damn I wish I was alone."

"Yeah, me too."

"What the hell was that?"

"I swear if attempt that stunt again, I will shut you out."

"Fine, if I'm in any real danger. You can take control."

"I'll deal with them but first I have some spiders to take care of."

"Yeah, don't remind me." Vincent said as he walked out of the base, walking all the way to the wall which lead to the spiders.

"Let's do this." Vincent sneered as he summoned his pickaxe and began to dig deeper and deeper until he came to the darkness which led to the spiders.

He slowly stepped into the catacomb, letting his vision come back to him as he continued in his path. However, he hadn't seen any spider, so he was becoming suspicious.

"Where the hell are they?" he questioned as he scanned the area, he had seen some coal around, but he decided to ignore them for the time being, imaging mining and the spider would just come along and swarm him.

"Celestial Eye." Vincent ordered as he held his spear ready for any attack.

Vincent's eyes widened just as he ducked to the side barely missing a liquid sprayed at him from the walls. He looked back only to find a 2-foot spider looking back at him. It was purple in color but seemed to be a normal spider excluding its size.

He could hear the sizzling of the liquid, making him presume it to be acid.

Before the spider could spit out another batch of venom, Vincent hurled the spear at it stabbing through it and pinning it against the wall.

[You have killed an Acidic Spider]

[Automatically Saving Acidic Spider's Body in the Base]

[You have been gifted a treasure chest due to killing this race for the first time. The chest will be based on the beast's level and prowess]

[Do you wish to dismantle the Acidic Spider's body? [Y/N]

"Not now." Vincent ordered as he looked forward, detecting a giant spider web which housed up to twenty of them just above him.

Most of the spiders had already noticed their brethren dying but didn't attack yet, instead they choose to just observe him while also gashing their mandibles.

"Yeah, I don't think I can take them on all at once." Vincent pulled out the spear from the wall just as a giant spider appeared. It was bigger than the others.

"I really hate when I have to do this." Vincent sighed as he looked at his hand as it began to create to sparks of electricity.

[Spark [E]

[Skill Type: Active]

[Description: Pulsates lighting from the user's hands, the lighting can be shot out from the user's hands. The lighting may cause a stun effect]

This was Vincent second skill, even he was surprised when he gained a second skill from the lottery. Even Lu Chen got another one which he was about to release to the group until Vincent stopped them.

Although this skill was relatively weak compared to the other one, it would do the job.

People may have asked, why not use it earlier. As mentioned earlier the skill was weak its only use was to stun for a few seconds at best. Imagine stunning one wolf but they are eleven more around you.

The only thing it could do was buy him time. However, it was the only long ranged attack plus he could fire it multiple times.

"Spark." Standing at a distance, he rose his arm shaping his arm into a gun saying its name out loud somewhat expecting the skill to fail but instead of his pessimism, a bolt of lightning suddenly escaped from his hand striking the spider's web.

The lightning bolt didn't do much just as he thought but it did do what he had hoped, created a spark. The lighting had created a spark on the web which began to spread quickly.

Some of the spiders began to burn in fire while others decided to jump from the web.

Vincent quickly ran towards them, slicing them apart with single slashes as they disorientated by the fire. The spear was incredibly sharp and fast so most of them went in a slash.

However, one seemed to be more intelligent than the others, instead of jumping down, it jumped on the wall, sticking to it as it slowly approached Vincent.

Soon the spiders were dead with most of them seemly dying in the fire while the rest jumped down to their deaths.

"That's done now-" Vincent almost completed his sentence but he stopped before shifting his body as acid passed by his shoulder.

"Arg" Although he had dodged a majority of the acid, a small part had managed to hit his shoulder leaving behind a scar as it burned his shoulder.

"Damn bug." Vincent cursed as he turned around, however to his expectation the spider had already prepared another dose as it spat it out.

Vincent dodged the acid again, aiming and throwing his spear in a second. The spider in response shifted to the side, letting the spear embed itself into the wall before standing on it.

"I have to say it's smart." Vincent mumbled as he summoned his dagger in his hand.

Taking in a deep breath, he sped around the cave dodging three more shots of acid but after the third one, it stopped spitting.

"Got am." Vincent unsummoned the dagger before speeding towards the spider as it tried to escape.

Mid-run, he summoned a rock before throwing it with all his strength at the spider. With its attention on escaping, it didn't notice the rock on its back until it felt it. The rock smashed it against the wall, splattering its blood against the wall as it twitched a bit before dying.

[You have killed a Queen Acidic Spider]

[Detecting Queen Acidic Spider's body is too damaged to store]

[You have been gifted a treasure chest due to killing this race for the first time. The chest will be based on the beast's level and prowess]

"So it was a female, hmm makes sense." Vincent muttered as he grabbed the hilt of his spear before pulling it out and storing it in his inventory.

"Just in case." Vincent activated Celestial Eye, checking each corner of the catacomb as he walked by, stabbing one spider which was burnt but still alive.

"That should be all of them." Vincent snarled before rubbing the burn with dirt to stop the pain.

"That venom really did a number on me." He commented as he continued his path to the end of the catacomb.

[In front leads to a lair of poisonous snakes]

[Right, A treasure chest of R Quality]

[Left, Nothing]

"So, right it is." Said Vincent before beginning to mine in his direction of choice.

Although he could get treasure chests from killing monsters, how could he miss out on his opportunity to gain a chest, plus it stated with R and by his weapon although flawed is pretty powerful.

It didn't take long for him to mine through the wall, walking through the cave before stumbling before a chest just sitting there in the middle of the cave.

Walking towards it, he just stood there looking at it, contemplating what to do.

"So, I just open it right." Vincent wondered as he reached out his hand and opening the treasure chest.

[You have gained 400ml Mineral Water+4]

[You have gained 400g Wheat Bread +4]

[You have gained the house improvement blueprint [Bed]

[You have gained blueprint [Well]
