The two went out of the bamboo forest and it truly went back to the square.
Jason wanted to ask Merry if she was the girl who lived in the City of Solitude, but in Attic, exchanging real-world addresses is a big no-no. As you never know who you are communicating with and what the purpose is.
Jason was a little anxious, he looked at Merry's fading back and still couldn't resist rushing up too her, "My name is Jason and I'm in the City of Solitude, in the slum of Avalon..."
Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by Merry, "Don't you want to live anymore? You just got a high bonus and you're revealing your personal information?"
He knew he was being stupid, but for some reason, he wanted to take the opportunity to get to know this person. Through the time they has just spent together, the idea was getting stronger and stronger.
Merry didn't give him another chance to talk and hurried offline.
Jason was still lost when he saw a large group of people armed as neatly as an army in the distance, rushing over to kill him. Obviously, they knew that he got a high bonus and came at him.
Merry quit the game, and immediately shouted to wake up Dao to pack things. Not knowing what the guy just now was from, but the address he said just now was unexpectedly the same as her's, she was definitely being watched now. Were someone coming at her, Dao might be in danger, after all, there are not a few people in Avalon who already knew about the existence of the Treeman.
There were some organizations inside Loft that specialized in filling their wallets by robbing people of their money, and those people could do everything. Some were reasonable enough to just hound people in the game, and some were even worse, they would just come to door and force people to transfer their money in their account to themselves, or they would kill them. There have been many people who have been brutally killed by some organizations secretly.
Merry pulled the dazed Dao out of the hotel, there was no one to catch up with them yet.
"Hey!" Merry's arm was suddenly pulled by someone, "Is that you?"
Merry turned around and took a look, she immediately realized that this was the same guy from the game, she was angry for no reason and was about to give Jason a punch.
Jason grabbed Merry's wrist and tried to explain to her, but Dao, who suddenly appeared behind scared Jason so much that he jumped out of the way and fell to the ground.
"What what ... what the hell is this?" Jason watched Dao come over, stuttering a little in shock, even wondering if he was still in the Loft World. It was surprising that there was such an existence in the real world.
"Hello, my name is Dao..."
"Let's go!" Before Dao started to introduce himself regardless of the situation, Merry noticed that there was already a bunch of people coming in the direction of the City of Solitude in the distance, which in all probability was coming for them.
Merry stepped into the airship... Oh no! Earlier, she gave some of the fuel to that run-down airship and failed to refill it, and there was not much left now, which meant that they might be unable to get very far.
"Take mine." Jason offered an invitation, "Just take it as a remedy for my mistake."
This is the only way now, the three immediately got into Jason's airship. Seeing someone running in a hurry this way, the bunch of people immediately chased up. The good news was that Jason's airship that he transformed on his own was quite awesome, it scurried out a long way at once, throwing off the people behind it.
"Now where do we go?" The atmosphere on the airship was a bit strained, and Jason asked, trying to remain a gentleman.
"..." Merry and Dao did not answer.
"I have a reliable place to go, shall we go and lay low."
The word "reliable", which came out of Jason's mouth, made Merry frown.
The slum was mixed and complicated, both she herself and Dao were unfamiliar with it, and this guy looked nothing malicious, although they could not gullibly trust him, the only way now was to believe him first.
"Let me introduce myself, my name is Jason, I am a police officer in the police station of the district." Jason hurried to remedy the situation.
"Merry." Merry answered without good grace.
"Your friend... is very special..." Jason then remembered that there was a tree sitting in the back seat. A tree, a tree, Jason snapped back and had a look. A talking tree! Could this be the legendary Treeman that was fought over by major labs and offered sky-high prices?
"Hello, my name is Dao, I just introduced myself." Dao was still not clear about the situation now, and looked relaxed.
Jason drove Merry and Dao to a small house. Avalon is now full of skyscrapers, there are few such small houses. Even in the slum, people who own such a small house must not be ordinary.
However, in this chaotic society, there is no ordinary people, everyone is a desperate man.
"December 20, 2221, three visitors." As the three pushed the door in, the small machine pendant at the door broadcasted. Inside was the sort of a small store, but empty, with nothing for sale.
Once through the door, a golden retriever leapt out from behind the counter to pounce on Jason, and when it saw Dao, it stopped and dared not move forward, barking twice hesitantly.
"Coffee, come here!" Only after Jason called its name did it jumped on Jason.
"Jason, you're back." An old man came out somehow from behind the counter, wearing a white coat and a pair of gloves, like he had just come out of the lab.
"Hmm." Jason responded, then introduced him to Merry, "Master Wu, my college teacher."
Merry nodded, she had heard of him, Master Wu was sort of a famous professor in Avalon, he was taking classes in the School of Mathematics at Avalon University, he liked all kinds of nonsensical experiments and inventions, Merry had heard of him before. Her Dad had planned to ask Master Wu to help examine Dao, but for some reason, he found someone else later. It was just that she didn't expect to run into him here.
"Isn't this the little Treeman worth over a billion dollars? Everyone in Avalon is looking for you, how come you pack yourself to us." Master Wu looked at Dao with a smile.
Merry subconsciously shielded Dao behind her.
"Master Wu! Don't be ridiculous. Someone is chasing us..." Jason knew Master Wu was joking.
Master Wu led the three into his lab. The lab was behind the wall of the counter, and although it wasn't very big, it was fully equipped with everything, nothing missed.
There was a robot busy in the lab, no one else was visible.
"Professor Wu, we have inquired about Dao's origins many times before, but all in vain, I wonder what is your opinion?" Merry asked Master Wu. she thought to herself that if she could know Dao's origin, she might be able to send him home, he was really dangerous in Avalon, or rather, Dao could be a target for others in any city here.
"Not quite sure, I've checked all his physical data." Master Wu said, "Ah, never mind, the lab that did the test for your friend before sold the experimental data at a high price, I also stopped by and found a copy. From the experimental results, it is indeed just an ordinary tree, nothing special. It really can't explain his bodily functions. Maybe he is an extraterrestrial life, whom was left behind on Earth. Where did you say your friend was from?"
"The East." Merry said.
"Robo, check if there is an alien event in the East that could be its origin." Master Wu said to the robot that was in the lab just now, "This is Robo," he then introduced to Merry.
"No." Robo immediately replied, "There are many extraterrestrial events, but they are all oopsies, and there are no reported extraterrestrial events that carry seeds or plants. But your speculation is not unreasonable, and the only reasonable explanation at the moment is that there may be extraterrestrial beings."
The conversation stopped there, and Master Wu arranged accommodation for them.
After two full days of running and fleeing, Merry realized that she was too tired to walk anymore. Now that she had a moment to think back on the past two days, the day before when she sat by the window and waited for her dad to come home was like a long long time ago.
"Do you have any plans, Merry," Dao asked.
"As soon as it's light tomorrow, we'll try to find Cici, she might have a way to help us get out of Avalon," Merry replied.
The streets have gradually taken on a Christmas atmosphere, several stores have put up undecorated Christmas trees in front of them, and there was also one hanging colored lights at the entrance, which reminded Merry of the family's happy scene when her mother was alive, and her nose twitched.
