Silver woke up in a room that was strange to her. She could vividly remember that last night people refused to help her or even go close to her. Even when she cried for help no one came.
So she was wondering who brought her to this well arranged room fit for a little girl.
But she didn't even notice the room, because she was in great grief of losing her father–Mr Siamak–who to was typically the only family she had or that she knew of.
Mr Luke–the mysterious man that saved her last night–heard her cries and quickly left what he was doing to see her crying seriously.
"Silver...right?"_
He asked.
Silver could only nod her head to this strange man she,could swear she had seen him somewhere. But that didn't seem to matter to her right now. She had just lost her father.
After 15 minutes of hearing a little girl cry.
"Sigh's...you need to stop crying. Look i know you are young and you just lost your father but that doesn't mean you should lose your eyes as well"_
Silver was shocked at his supposingly heart mending words.
"I'm quite sure that if your father knew that you lost your eyes because you were crying he would not like it so i think–"
He was interrupted by Silver
"What?,My father is..., Is he still alive? Tell me he is?"_
"Sigh... little one you have to face the fact that your old man is dead the soonest you do the better"_
"I'll be in the living room if you need anything"_.
After saying that the stood up and left.
Silver stared at his exiting figure for a while before she started pondering over what Mr Luke had just said.
She could vividly remember that last night people refused to help her and they just kept calling her names. She wondered why Mr Luke helped her.
Although she was only 8 she was clever. And she knew that no one else will be willing to take her in. So she told herself that she would not cry again especially not in the presence of Mr Luke–her helper. She thought
'I caused this for myself if i had just stayed still and not acted ridiculously,father will still be here. I'm going to show this man how thankful i am by being a big girl,like father always says' _
She willed up herself and matched to the living which wasn't hard to find. She met Mr Luke meditating while sitting on a mat he spread on the floor. With face down she said
" Mr...?"_
"Luke my name is Luke call me Luke. Don't add Mr. Ok?" _
He said with a bright smile. Silver wasn't expecting him to be so friendly.
"Mr...er sorry ehm Lu...Luke"she stammered
"chuckles... don't worry call the way you feel comfortable to." _
Silver smiled to herself.
"Mr Luke,I just wanted to tell you thanks. For saving me last night when ever other person refused to even near me. But might i asked why you did that?"_
"Lets just say your dad was a good friend of mine".
"Come with me to the dinning table lets have breakfast you must be famished"_
. Silver followed him to the dinning table. On seeing the various dishes and colours of all the different kinds of food on the table,it left her mouth agape.
"Silver have your sit and dig in "_
"O...only me. What about you?"_
"Silver it is almost noon now do you really think i haven't eaten breakfast"_
Silver was frozen for a while.
"Hello. Earth to Silver. What is on your mind?" _
" Just...dad doesn't let me eat this much he says ill get all fat and he wouldn't be able to carry his...his angle" _
'Silver get it together you must not cry in front of him'.
"Oh I'm sorry to hear, but you have lost a lot of energy,and you need enough food to replace those lost energy. Don't you think?"
Silver who was busy telling herself not to cry looked up and smiled.
"Thank you Mr Luke"she said and immediately started digging into the variety of foods –both strange ones and familiar ones. It was obvious that she was indeed very hungry.
And she thought to herself 'Starting today i will live a new life. At least I'll try, I'll try to make a new beginning'.
