Everyone's attention was drawn to the sound of the breaking glass but Xavier didn't turn to look and just stayed normal.
"Mom" He heard Sophie call out as she stood up to go meet the lady who was standing still with her hands frozen in the air and her eyes glued to Xavier's face.
Sophie rushed to her side as she helped her mom to move away from the shards of glass on the floor. But the woman was totally unaware as she just followed Sophie with her face filled with questions but there was joy in her heart. Her son was home for the first time in five years and she couldn't express her happiness.
After making sure that her mom was not close to the broken glass, Sophie then went inside the kitchen to call one of the servants to clean the floor.
The woman who had now regained her posture quickly rushed to her son's side
"Xavier" She called as she brought her hands out to touch him but was stopped with a warning.
"Keep those filthy hands off me" Xavier ordered causing the woman to halt in her stance. That was the first word he had spoken since he entered the room.
The woman could feel her eyes heat up in tears but she tried to blink them away when she noticed Sophie arriving.
For the rest people this was a usual thing that happened but Sophie was not aware, she was the only one who was kept in the dark. And so when She saw Sophie approaching she then went back to her sit next to Elder Quinn.
Sophie then arrived accompanied by a servant who then began to clean up the floor.
Sophie then took a sit next to her brother as she then held his arm again.
Sophie still had a smile on her lips and she was totally unaware of what had happened just now and no one in the room was willing to say anything as they all continued their pretence.
After the servant had finish cleaning the broken glass on the floor the food was then brought and arranged on the table. Different delicacies were then arranged on the table and the aroma filled the dining room as the servants began to serve them.
Sophie didn't like being tended to by the servants and so she politely told the servant that she could do it on her own and so the servant stayed back and let the young miss do as she please.
Sophie then began to put food on her plate by herself and when she was done she then also served Xavier who seem to not have any interest in the food but he didn't stop Sophie and let her do as she please.
Everyone's eyes were fixated on Sophie and Xavier, but no one had the guts to say anything and just ate their food while stealing glances at Xavier.
Xavier didn't mind the stares he was getting as he grabbed his cutlery and then began to eat. He noticed that the girl across the table still kept stealing glances at him, Xavier didn't like that at all and he returned her gaze with a deadly glare making the girl to shiver in her spines as she looked away.
Sophie had noticed the little action and she couldn't help but giggle, she knew how her brother didn't like people googling at him.
For the past few weeks this girl had been coming to visit and Sophie was suspecting that something was up.
She asked her father about it but he said that she was just a friend of Xavier and that she only came to say hi. He also told her that she should get accumulated with her.
Sophie had thought that truly Xavier knew the girl but the way things were going it seemed like her father lied and she now knew what was going on.
Her father was trying to pair Xavier with the girl, she wouldn't interfere and would let the drama happen.
The dinner was not as cheerful as one would have expected from the Quinn's family, Xavier was quiet throughout his meal while Sophie was the one who brought out topics and made the tensed dining a little lively.
Even when the topic was about him Xavier still said nothing and would only reply to Sophie with a simple gesture.
The dinner soon ended and everyone then separated. The ladies were at the living room having tea while the men were with Elder Quinn at the mini bar in the mansion.
Xavier didn't want to join but Sophie had asked that he should at least be there even though he wasn't going to say anything.
Not being able to say no to Sophie he agreed and joined the men. He sat at the furthest bar stool away from the rest as his eyes stared blankly at the range of expensive alcohol on the shelf.
He looked towards his so called father and he couldn't help but despise him more. His hatred for his father was increasing every passing day.
He looked over to his step brothers who seem to be trying to gain his father's favour. Rui being the first child of elder Quinn didn't inherit any of the man's features. He instead got his looks from his mother who was a whore.
Lim on the other hand had taken little of Elder Quinn's face features but he had inherited his mother's horrible character. Just like his mother had slept with half of the men City, he too had slept with half of the girls in the City.
The two boys were nothing but assholes, they are just like their mother. It was the reason why even after having a child with them Elder Quinn still went in search of another woman and that was when he met his mother.
His mother was then the legal wife of Elder Quinn But nevertheless Elder Quinn still payed for the two boys education and when they graduated he gave them jobs.
Even though they answered the name Quinn, Elder Quinn had told them strictly to not let anyone know that they are his children. To the outside world they were just relatives, he was willing to go as far as to deny his children to protect his reputation.
