Chapter 3: Chapter Three Sharks

When Donald first saw the sharks, his heart flew out of his chest as terror overwhelmed him.

There and then he knew that they were doomed. His heart kept beating rapidly and it was as if it was going to pump out of his chest.

He closed his eyes and imagined himself lying in a casket and his wife weeping bitterly beside him...

"No that's never gonna happen" he declared firmly as he opened his eyes.

Donald's adrenalin was raised immediately he saw how the sharks bit off the head of a chubby man who was the nearest to the sharks.

The man was so scared that his trembling body couldn't let him move. He kept on staring at the first shark and didn't know when the other sharks went for his head.

They dug their sharpened painted teeth at the edge of his neck and bit his head off. The blood that oozed out of his neck as soon as his head was chopped off, snapped every out of their trace and they began to run for their lives.

They swam as fast as their arms and legs could carry them. But where could they escape to since everywhere was covered with water?

Donald didn't look back as he swam, he was determined to survive even though he knew that the chance was very low.

But when he finally looked back he was surprised to see others following him at his back but that wasn't all he saw.

The sharks were now done with the chubby man and now coming after them with speed.

He heard the second groan, meaning that the shark had gotten up with the second person and added more strength to his arms and legs so he could faster.

" I can't die here"

" Someone help me please!!!"

Donald heard the second victim scream and shook his head but didn't help. It was just a matter of time before he too would be caught, and he didn't want his bones and body to tear into pieces so he continued moving.

He was too concerned about surviving and couldn't save anyone right now but also felt sorry for the man. With that, he slightly looked back again.

When he looked back, he saw the victim struggling to release his captured right leg from the mouth of the shark that got him by kicking it but all his kicks didn't hit because the shark was under the water.

" Help me plea-"

The second scream that came out sounded faint because the man had been dragged to the bottom of the ocean and the next thing that came out after, was his blood and a few unrecognized body parts.

Though Donald was scared of death that didn't slow his speed at all.

He had learned how to swim a long time ago and had also gone in a few competitions but swimming in the ocean was a different difficult task for him.

Thus, he was still trying his best to fight the ocean and was doing pretty well.

As he was still struggling to overcome the tiny waves that were happening at the time since there wasn't enough current that day, for which he was very thankful at that moment, something passed him by with speed surprising him.

A man with a protruding belly who was once at the very back was now in his front. This made him begin to wonder how the man made it this far with his pot belly.

After the first scream was heard, another one was followed, then another and another and another

' I wonder how many of us are still left. Eventually, we are going to die here no matter how fast we swim'

Donald's arms were now becoming weak and his leg felt so numb, slowing down his pace.

When he finally stopped swimming and was slowly drowning in the ocean, he looked and saw the shakes swimming under the water with speed.

He removed his gaze immediately as he thought about how these outrageous shakes are going to share his body piece by piece and that was sending shivers down his spine.

This brought him to look down at the ocean which was pitch black since he couldn't see under it. He knows he will eventually die before he gets to the bottom of the sea or might not even reach it because immediately he dies his body will instantly float back to the surface.

' God save my soul and family

He prayed his last prayer in his mind as he awaited for his fate to come to him.

When he opened his closed eyes, he looked again to see how far the shakes were before he met his death but as he was still looking, he felt some sensation on his body.

It was as if the sensation was coming from down below. This made him use his last strength to focus on the dark part of that ocean.

He waited for the thing but nothing came out. As soon as his eyes were gradually given up and everything turned blurry, he saw a larger figure coming toward the surface from below.

That was the last thing he saw before everything went dark.

Early in the morning the next day, the sun's rays hit Donald hard on his eyes, waking him up from his sleep.

He rubbed his eyes and stretched himself then slowly opened his eyes but was astounded at his environment.

He was lying on top of some other people who were still asleep at that moment and few were also waking up.

He couldn't remember how he got here and couldn't think that he got here himself.

'Is this a nightmare or what?'

He asked himself as he began to study his surroundings and it was then confirmed that they were on an unknown island.

Donald stood up immediately not understanding what was going on and it didn't take long for others to begin to wake up as well.

Some threw up immediately after they woke up while some were just busy vomiting the water they had drunk from the ocean.

Donald did the same thing after walking for some distance. He threw up and felt very sick, so he sat down on the sandy floor to look at the ocean which almost took his life.

'  I wonder what happened to the sharks'

As he sat down on that floor, his mind drifted off somewhere else.

" Where are we?"

The red-haired woman was terrified when she woke up, she looked to her left and right and then frowned " I don't think this is a normal island"

The island was the same as the other island, as well as having some coconut trees here and there but something was missing.

The island was just quiet, nothing could be heard, not even from the thick forest that was in front of them with no clear path to walk in.

It was like a graveyard, with no chirping birds, no animal noises, nothing at all, and this creeped her out the most.

The next thing that was seen was the tattooed man walking towards the captain with rage, his face so red that one could notice his trembling body that was shaking slightly with fear, " You have finally succeeded haven't you? Your company has taken five lives and is still planning on killing the remaining fifteen left, who knows what you planned ahead of us"

"How is this my fault Frederick? " the captain retorted immediately with a demented expression, " you saw the shark killing everyone…"

" Then why didn't it kill you and your assistant sitting over there?" Frederick cut him off immediately while pointing towards a Chinese woman who sat on the floor and was shivering with cold " you think I don't know who you Chinese are? traitors! using your robots to do your outrageous duties "

He shifted his attention from the captain to the other survivors and then asked " hey everyone! Have any of you seen a black shark before!"

The others vigorously shook their heads when they heard the question which busted his morale the more.

" Good, that's their robot, those sharks came from their company" he pointed at both the captain and his assistant.

As soon as he was done with his accusations, noises erupted as people began to add sense to the things he said.

" I think he is telling the truth!"

A man with bald hair that almost looks like a lecturer shouted among them and the murmurs increased.

" We should throw them back into the ocean!!" One man with a fancy shiny suit shouted and others backed him up with a cheer.

The blonde woman was watching the whole thing while leaning on a coconut tree near them. She leaned there wondering why this man with tattoos doesn't think of important stuff other than unnecessary things.

She cleared her throat to gain everyone and then asked " has any of you thought or might have gotten any image of what might have saved us ?"

No one answered that as they were all busy looking at each other to see who would answer first.

Donald wasn't listening to the bullshit going on behind him, he just sat on the floor and was busy looking at the ocean that surrounded them.

His mind was filled with the thought of his family and how they would cope without him. He needs to get back to them before things get worse.

As he stayed there for some time and waited for the noise behind him to die down but it didn't, he stood up and walked towards them with reddish eyes filled with pain, tears, and regrets.

" Do any of you have a family!!?"

His voice was calm but a little hard. He can't imagine them making those noises when they have people waiting and praying for their return, just like him.

As he asked that, the noise stopped as they wanted to know the reason he asked the question.

After the question, Donald didn't say anything else, he just turned his head back to the ocean and his eyes went far away. No one knows what he was looking at or thinking but that was not their main problem.

As they waited for Donald to complete his phrase but he didn't, the bald-haired became impatient and asked instead " we all do, why do you ask?"

" I don't have a family"

A teenage girl with black hair and crystal blue eyes who could be around nineteen or twenty raised her hands to say for herself.

Everyone turned with a curious mind to look at the person with no family but was shocked when they noticed that a teenager was among them. No one noticed her before even when they were on the boat.

Murmurs came again as they began to ask why the girl was among them. What was on everyone's mind was why would such a young girl be among them. Almost everyone there was married and had kids at home, so why would such a teenager be here?

" What are you doing here little girl?" Frederick questioned instead as no one was ready to ask anything.

The girl began to shed tears when she heard the question and with tears, she began to tell her story

" My name is Isabella, I am an orphan. My parents died when I was just ten and I have no one. I am only here because the company pitied me and gave me the job because of my intelligence"

"Please you guys should protect me. I don't want to die…. I don't want it to end like this!!"

The girl sniffled immediately after she was done talking and the red-haired woman went closer to console her and encouraged her that nothing was going to happen. The woman hugged and patted the girl's back gently to stop crying.

The story the girl told them was heart-touching and the ladies there all had tears in their eyes as they listened to the girl and remembered their kids at home.

They can't give the girl assurance of anything happening because they don't have any hope of survival.

No one knows what's waiting for them in this silent, scary-looking forest because everything calm around them always turns out to be their worst nightmare.

They were all stranded, there was no way out of this and they were very far from the city. No ship could be seen around and the worst part was that they don't even know where they are.

As they were all busy thinking about their loved ones at home, the forest trees began to shake incredibly and Creepy noises were heard inside the forest. The noise was as if it was coming directly toward them…alerting them.

As they stood waiting for the thing coming towards them while looking around them with their adrenaline raised, hundreds of large vultures came out of the forest and started hovering above their heads.

These vultures were the size of fifty liters of a can of water, their eyes were so red and it was as if they had sharp long canine teeth sticking out in front of their beak.

" Are those things vultures?"

Isabella asked while pointing at the vultures with trembling hands. Those vultures were creeping her out. She was the most intelligent girl in her class but never read of a vulture-like that in her life.

There was a vulture in front of the other vultures, it was a little bigger and looked as if it was their leader.

After hovering for some time above their heads, the first one flew back and the rest followed and they left.

The survivors sighed when they saw that the vultures had left them. They breathed out the breaths they had been holding for so long and their rapid thudding hearts stopped.

As soon as the vultures left, Donald and some others went to sit down at a fallen coconut tree nearby but stood up when they saw what raised their emergency hormones.
