Muttering with superstitious fear the men return to the village and the word is spread of the /"Devil/" that walks the night, and disappears into thin air, leaving no trace of where it has gone. People from the village once again beg the chief to reinstate the witch doctor, to stop any further killing, the chief refuses.

A week passes without incident, and the villagers return to their normal routine, only to have their lives shattered with the next attack. The lion has no fear of humans as there has been no contact between the two, apart from the first kill.
