#Chapter22
Hippo Safari Lodge is situated right on the banks of the mighty Kafue River, with direct access to the Kafue National Park. The lodge consists of comfortable en-suite chalets and a luxurious Riverside Villa which also has its private riverside deck, as well as 4 luxury classic safari tents, all overlooking the Kafue River. Piet and his group have been given the use of the Villa, mainly because of its four bedrooms, and will allow the group to stay together while they conduct their research.
The camp is situated almost directly across the river from the area where the smallholding is, and further upstream is an old railway bridge that could be used to get to the other side, although it would not be possible to take a vehicle across. They also have use of the motor launch used for river cruises. This will allow them to cross the river and have direct access to the smallholding from that direction.
