Homecoming and a few surprises

Homecoming arrived, and I told my parents about who was taking me. They had their reservations about Keith. I told them it was okay since I attended a school dance and came home. I wanted to prove that I wasn’t a dateless loser.

I finished getting ready as the time drew near. Coop headed out and met up with the others. He offered me a ride to the dance, but I declined. These people had no faith in a guy taking me to Homecoming.

Once I put the finishing touches on, I came downstairs and waited. I had a few minutes to spare. Someone knocked on the door, and Dad answered it, for it only to be Uncle Gavin and Uncle Ty. It’s no biggie. Keith would be here. I was sure of it.

More knocks came as more adults arrived. I waited for Keith to show up, but he never did. I stood there, staring at the door as they looked at me.

/"Andi,/" Dad said.

/"Keith’s coming, but he’s running late./"
