Since prom, Kevin refused to speak to Mariana. Mariana tried to apologize and even got us to help but to no avail. He even refused to sit at our table, causing a split in our group. Gavin, of course, sat with him, as did Ty, while Caleb sat with us. This was a mess.

/"Give him time,/" Caleb said.

/"He hates me./" She sighed.

/"Can you blame the dude?/"

We looked at him.

/"I’ll play devil’s advocate here. In no uncertain terms, you said that a promise ring is an end all be all—no ring, no love. Then you slapped him in front of everyone./"

She sat there.

/"Do you even love the guy?/"

/"Of course, I love him. He’s amazing!/"

/"Then why make a big deal out of something he planned on doing?/"

/"What?/" We asked.

/"Oops./" Caleb tried to figure out a way out of his slip-up.
