Chapter 2
I don't own Date a Live or it's characters. I'm also trying a new speech thing I was recommended. Let's see how it goes. Oh and there's a non canon slight OOC moment in here. See if you notice it. Alright then.
Let the date (battle) begin!
Flashback unknown time
???: Wake up! Come on wake up! Please!
*Cough* *Cough* huh? I open my eyes to feel my body leaning on someone.
???: Yes! Come on Kuro stay with me here! Your the only one here besides me. Mom left us!
Kuro?: Mom.... is..... gone?
???: Yes! But that's not important. Your bleeding and you need to stay awake. Don't die!
Why would I die? I'm only a little sleepy.
???: No keep your eyes open! Don't go to sleep!
It's only a little nap. I'll rest and be fine....
My eyes began to shut faster. A few minutes won't hurt right?
???: I can't lose you either! Then what will I do?
*Sigh* Sleepy time is a no go. With herculean effort, I open my eyelids and began to try and support my own weight. So like this we continued, until we were found. Found by....
Present time
I open my eyes slowly for what feels like the second time just in time to see a young woman leaning over me.
She had bags under her eyes, like she was extremely sleep deprived, and her hair was dangling near my face.
I of course did what any man does when faced with close female contact. Use sheer willpower to keep Jr down.
Kuro: 'Calm mind, calm mind, calm mind!'
I shouted those words in my head repeatedly like I was a Pokemon and that was a move I learned by TM.
During my internal struggle to stop Excalibur from 'Piercing the Heavens', the woman was still staring before slowly backing away.
???: "Your awake. How do you feel? You did crash pretty hard."
How do I feel? Oh yeah. I had just saw a weird armored girl, Origami Tobiichi had a discount version of a Neptunia Processor Unit, and...
Kuro "Shit! Shido and Kotori! I need to find them."
I immediately hopped out of the mattress I was on and looked around the room trying to find an exit.
???: "Calm down. They're both fine. The commander will explain everything."
She got up behind me and began to move towards the door. Or at least tried to before she suddenly collapsed. Luckily I caught her in my arms.
???: "Thanks."
Kuro: "Ok. Pardon my french. But when's the last time you slept?"
She raised three fingers.
Kuro: "3 days ago?"
She shook her head no.
???: "It was probably 30 years ago."
The fuck!?
Kuro: "Thirty yea- Woman how are you still fucking alive!? Nope scratch that, moving on. Where is the commander at?"
She points down the hall.
Thanking her, I began to walk that way. Of course she's still in my arms.
???: "You can put me down you know."
Nope I say while popping the P.
Kuro: "Sorry not happening. We may be strangers, but you are getting sleep while I carry you. No ifs, ands, or buts."
While saying this I began raising my body heat to the point where I feel like a mini heater. Of course I make sure I'm warm enough to where you would get sleepy, but not hurt you.
???: .....
She says nothing but eventually drifts off in my arms. I smile and hold her a little tighter. At least I can help her get some sleep for now, even if we are strangers. In this fashion I continue down the hallway eventually finding a large room. Waiting near the front of the room is a bland man with blonde hair.
He introduced himself as Kyouhei Kannazuki. Also in the room was one of the sources of my stress himself. Shido.
Shido: "Oh your awake Kuro. Finally. I was worried you were going to be out for a while, especially after hitting a building."
And who's fault was that I wonder?
Shido notices the woman in my arms. An eyebrow is raised.
Shido: "Wanna explain?"
Kuro: "Not particularly, no."
A cough gets our attention. It came from Kannazuki over there.
Kannazuki: "If your quite done, the commander is ready and willing to answer all questions."
Shido: " Yeah that's right. Where's Kotori? I was told when I woke up she was safe, but I didn't get an answer as to how?
Kuro: "Yeah could we get some context on how exactly she's safe."
He just smiles.
???: "I believe I can answer that."
A familar voice replies. The chair at the front and center of the command room, turns around revealing a certain someone.
Kannazuki: "May I introduce the Commander of the Fraxinus, Ms Kotori Itsuka."
Wait what. I exposed myself, pulled out a weapon capable of leveling Japan with no effort, fought what seems to be an armored princess, and last but not least, got launched into a building supposedly, while looking for you since you made a comment that I mistook as seriousness, only for you to be somewhere else entirely.
Seriously..
Kuro: "What the fuck Kotori! I nearly caused World War freaking Z, the war to end all wars, because I thought you were dead or hurt. But no! Your fine! How?! Why?!"
My shouting caused the woman in my arms to stir, so I quickly stopped and she settled down once more.
Shido: "But seriously. You couldn't have called or anything? You ignored all texts. I have half a mind to believe your not our little sister at all, but merely an imposter!"
Kotori seemed amused but also confused.
Kotori: "What are you two talking about? I'm perfectly Ok as you can see."
Shido and I share a look.
Shido: "This! Your phone says your at the diner. So of course we thought you were unsafe. 'You have to be there even if there's a spacequake' remember?"
Kotori just stares at us confused before she snaps her fingers.
Kotori: Oh that's it! We're above the diner. Listen up everyone! Turn off the filter.
Upon her words the floor turned transparent. Underneath us it was revealed we were floating in midair. That's actually impressive.
Still though
Kuro: "That solves that mystery. Now side note, what's all this? These people, this obvious freaking flying ship we're in, oh and lets not forget the skimpy swimsuit women, and-"
I was cut off midway.
Kotori: "One question at a time. I can't answer them all if you keep adding more to the pile. Geez... Luckily for you, all your questions revolve around the same answer. Spirits."
A holographic screen appeared in front of Shido and me. (By this time the woman was awake, so I put her down as my body temperature went back to normal.) On the screen was the same purple haired girl from before, along with the swimsuit girls.
But the screen soon ignored them and zoomed in on the purple haired girl. The word spirit and anomaly were highlighted abiove her.
Kotori: "That girl is a being that should not and probably did not exist in this world originally. Her very presence alone, after each appearance, destroys the surrounding area, not by choice though."
Wait! Then that means,
Shido: "You mean that girl. Spirits, cause spacequakes?!"
Kotori: "Close but not quite. You see-"
Kuro: "The spacequakes are a result of their arrival, or rather a precursor of what's to come. Sorta like how you would give a sales pitch before introducing something. Am I right Kotori?"
She nods.
Kotori: "In all honesty, Shido was lucky. If the scale of her arrival was any bigger, you would be dead."
"And the rest of the world would soon follow..." I mutter to myself.
Kotori: "Hmm?"
"Nothing."
Lost in my own world, I missed Kotori assaulting Kannazuki with a lollipop and him revealing he's a Darkness 2.0. When I tuned back in it was to hear the word AST.
Kuro: "Wait, what's the AST?"
Kotori: "It's a unit specialized for Spirits. Or the Anti Spirit Team."
Shido: "When you say Anti you don't mean-"
Kotori: "Simple. If a Spirit appears, they fly over and deal with it. Or to be more accurate, they eliminate them."
Urrk! They do what?
To make it worse, Kotori said it with a straight face, like the word exterminate was candy or something.
Seeing the expression on my face Kotori nods in confirmation.
Unbeknownst to me, Shido was feeling sick. He knew that Spirits were dangerous, the aftermath alone is proof. But still, exterminate?
Both our minds flashback to earlier:
"Wait! Chill, I'm not here to hurt you!" "You lie! You will just like all the others!"
So that's what she meant.
Then Kotori said something completely out of character from the little sis I knew.
Kotori: "Well if you consider it from a rational standpoint, them being killed would be best for us."
*CRACK*
"Ww-what?/WHAT." Shido and I both say.
Kotori: "There's nothing wrong with what I said right? They're monsters. Just by appearing in this world they cause spacequakes. They are the evilest and deadliest poison!"
*CRACK* *SHATTER*
A cold tempest erupted from my body pushing Shido, the nameless woman, and Kannazuki away from me. As the temperature in the room began to drop. My eyes were locked on Kotori.
Kuro: "You said it wasn't their fault. That it was out of their control."
She continued on anyways.
Kotori: That's right. I did say that. But let's not forget the lives lost during fighting with the AST. And before you say anything, maybe if the AST didn't attack, they would still go on a trail of destruction."
Kuro: "That won't happen!"
Kotori: "And why is that?"
Kuro: "Because I won't let it. And I'm sure Shido wouldn't let it either."
That's right. I won't. Not again. There was one person who came to mind:
A girl with heterochromia. I failed her once. She was called a monster for something she couldn't control. I couldn't help back then, but I can now.
Kotori: "And how will you keep it from happening huh? Are you going to make it colder or something? Please enlighten me."
Kuro: "I'll stop them if I have to, or anyone trying to hurt them, like this!"
I slam my fists into the ground. The cold air that was forming dissipated before gathering at my fists. A giant ice pillar erupted from the ground in front of me. (Ignore Juvia)
I then touched the front of it before erupting in flames, melting it.
Was I showing off a bit? Yes. Do I care? No. She needs to understand I meant what I said.
Kotori smirks before looking at Shido.
Kotori: "Do you feel the same?"
Shido: "We won't know unless we can actually talk to them."
"Then we will help you."
And cut! This is admittedly a bit of filler to get this really going. The true pace making begans next chapter, I swear! We saw a flashback earlier from Kuro? 's perspective. Weird right? He also seems to know our beloved Tuna. How? Well I know but you don't. Mwahaahahahah, *Cough*
