Marcus Cutler POV:
I staggered back as Julia took a step towards me, falling onto my bed. I quickly rolled into a backwards summersault to the far side. I knew the bed wasn’t going to do much, but it was better than having nothing between me and a vampire.
I just didn’t realize how little good the bed was going to do.
Even as I rolled off the far side and got to my feet, I found Julia kneeling on the edge of the bed. Her smiling face was only inches away from mine.
“Is something wrong, Marcus?” Julia asked me innocently.
My brain stopped thinking and my body acted on its own. As I staggered back again, one of my arms shot up and tried to hit Julia across the face. She didn’t try to dodge this time. She didn’t need to, because when my hand reached her, it just passed through her head as if she wasn’t there.
Julia’s smile grew, and then she just disappeared.
Okay, this was going to be a problem.
