Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Nothing Is What It Seems

Felicity sped to the local hospital, pulling into a parking spot, and abruptly hitting her brakes. She wasted no time putting her truck in park and racing to the entrance.

It had been quite a long time since her last visit here.

The memory halted her sprint and knocked the wind from her lungs.

She was instantly transported to a hospital room. There Julian laid. He was wrapped like a mummy in bandages with tubes coming out of everywhere and machines beeping continually. She held his hand until the very end. She had to be peeled from his room to go shower. Every piece of food she put into her body was done by persuasion. She was ready to just lay down and die next to him.

But she didn't. At least not physically. Mentally she left the day he did. It wasn't until recently that she once again started to come alive. Sadly, the person who brought life back into her soul was one she couldn't have.
