Chapter 521: The whisper of a dead man 2

The besieged bus was very quiet, and many people even held their breath deliberately, fearing that any noise would be too loud and irritate the walking dead outside.

Slowly, midnight arrived, and many children  couldn't endure the quiet waiting after several hours and cuddled in the arms of their family members, falling asleep one after another.

If it weren't for the constant low growls from outside, this scene would be even warmer. Some moonlight shone into the compartment through the gap. Everyone's faces were nervous, and their eyes looked outside, seemingly waiting for the arrival of rescue at all times.

Fortunately, the weather had gradually turned cold. If it were a summer night, with so many people crowded in a poorly ventilated bus, being in this place for several hours would cause a lot of pressure.

A foul stench permeated the bus, and no one seemed to be able to smell it. Several men near the lookout point stared outside. Slowly, they noticed that the group of walkers in the distance seemed to have changed a bit.

The dense crowd of walkers appeared to be becoming scarcer, but it was really difficult to see them clearly with the naked eye. Several people looked and tried to see further, but after a long while, they sat back wearily.

Naturally, these people couldn't see the specific situation outside, but that didn't mean that no one in the car could see it. Ezekiel was equipped with thermal imaging equipment. The faint red in the distance made him understand that someone had already formed a tactical moving group and was in action.

Looking at the calm survivors, Ezekiel knew he had to keep these people quiet at all costs, even if it was just to save a few lives, and he couldn't allow these newcomers to cause trouble.

Greeting Jerry and the other soldiers, they began to whisper and separate, walking among the crowd, and started quietly comforting these newcomers who could collapse at any moment.

While the besieged people waited in silence, the two vehicles that had excitingly escaped the siege were operating remotely on the operation that was unfolding at that moment.

As planned, two teams would lead the walkers in the forest in a single direction, as they could alter the direction of the walker horde that would be moved away from the buses. Meanwhile, three teams in different directions would lead the walkers away from this place.

...

After a night of hard work.

Early the next morning, the tide of walkers split into several strands under the leadership of various teams and finally merged and went in another direction.

The people who led the team also dragged their tired bodies after the sun rose toward the Airon convoy, but they had a very intriguing surprise in their hands.

There are still some diehards around the trapped cars, probably more than a hundred of them. These walkers have heard the abnormal noise in the buses, so they have been trying to enter a place that would be impossible for them to enter.

Airon pulled the group of these people out of the cars, and to avoid attracting the exiting walkers, they had to use cold weapons to deal with the remaining ones.

The heavily armed soldiers quickly surrounded them, and Airon, who took the lead, was like a demon, flying up and down with a pair of blood-stained curved machetes, eliminating walker after walker.

The battle lasted only ten minutes, and the last small group of walkers was eliminated without any surprises.

Victor immediately got out of the armored vehicle. He didn't worry too much yesterday; on the contrary, he fell asleep directly after midnight, and when he woke up, the group of walkers had been cleared.

The people on the buses weren't as relaxed. These people were really worried all night. After all, they were well protected by the previous shelter. Most of these people had never been in such close contact with such a large horde of walkers. Trembling and enduring the whole night, it wasn't until after dawn that the massive original group of walkers inexplicably dispersed, but many monsters were still left behind.

Then they witnessed an unforgettable scene: a group of people rushed at the walkers with knives in their hands, cutting down these horrible monsters to the ground as if they were cutting melons and vegetables.

One young man who took the initiative was the most terrifying. Some people quickly recognized him as the young man named Benllamy.

This is the first time they've seen this person kill walkers, that speed, that strength, that reaction!

On the other hand, Kiano didn't go with the previous group of people, but he has been waiting in the armored vehicle alongside Airon since his friends are on this bus, not to mention that he is still the leader of the highlands community, and he can't leave everyone in peace.

As soon as they cleared the walkers, he got on the bus, and after a while of comfort, he stepped out of the bus with a joyful face.

"Everything is fine!"

The overnight experience not only allowed them to experience the despair of the past few days but also made them understand that they didn't follow the wrong person. The S.C.T. is an organization that wants to save their comrades at all costs, what else do they have to worry about?

...

"We found her on the road, taking out two other hostile targets that were by her side." One of the soldiers informed Airon closely.

She's around 18 years old, with brown hair, dark eyes, and fair skin. However, due to her dirty and tattered clothes, her face couldn't be fully appreciated, but Airon knew her very well.

"Lydia, Alpha's daughter... What the hell happened to the Whisperers?" Airon wondered beside the stretcher where this unconscious girl lay.

He knew Lydia's story very well since she was truly someone significant in the original story. Since she was a child, Lydia suffered physical and psychological abuse from her mother, which led her to adopt her group's ideology and follow their strict rules in order to survive, including wearing walker skins and killing anyone who stood in their way.

As it was well known, being Alpha's daughter, Lydia was the first member of the Whisperers and the daughter of the leader of this audacious group of people who lived among walker herds. However, ever since he received the report from Merle, who should be in Texas, he knew that something might have happened to the Whisperers, and now he had just confirmed it.

Regardless of what happened, he must find out what occurred in Washington and why they say there's a black stain there.
