Chapter 10: Chapter 10 (Love)
Love!, It triggers the fight or flight reaction in the body.
Epinephrine and norepinephrine are released into the bloodstream when the adrenal medulla in the brain releases catecholamines, which trigger the heart to beat faster and that is when you feel it go faster and stronger, whether it is a new crush or the love of your life.
For Alexandra she couldn't tell what it was, why is her heart beating fast as they both run out of the hallway, should her heart beat this fast, is something wrong with her, or is it because of the nervousness?
He dropped her hand immediately they got out, farther away from the squeaking.
Ha Joon sighed in relief and turned his face to Alexandra who was still trying to understand what was going on and why he did that but as she opened her mouth to speak, what came out of her mouth was.
"Why did you pull me out with you?".
In her head, she sounded harsh but to Ha Joon, all he heard was a breaking voice.
He stared at how nervous she looked.
She quickly looked away and exhaled sharply trying to calm her pumping heart, she held her chest and cleared her throat.
“Why is my heart beating this loud? Why is he staring at me? Can he hear how loud it is? why did he hold my hand and run out with me?”, her thought was filled up with so many questions.
"I am sorry... the... the noise just got a little bit frustrating, they do this all the time, they see me and then go crazy...", he said and exhaled sharply.
"You are still the only girl that gets all stubborn and bold to talk back at me, I missed that....”he mumbled to himself.
Alexandra narrowed her eyes at him, "What? are you trying to say you used me to get away from those girls without asking for my approval?”, she said and watched him look away.
Alexandra scoffed and looked away, "I cannot believe this.... Why would you?.....”
His hand wrapped around her waist and he firmly pulled her body closer to his.
She immediately got speechless.
Her body pressed against his, the sweet smell of his cologne caught her attention, why is she even thinking about cologne in this situation?
His hand kept her in his grasp.
But why does his cologne smell so familiar?
Alexandra could swear he felt every of her heart beat against his body, her head were resting on his chest and as bad as she want to pull away, she loves it.
She noticed some girls passing by and whispering to themselves while he pressed her against him even harder.
"Did he hug me because of these girls? did he use me AGAIN!", she pulled away angrily and stared at Ha Joon.
"I can't believe you...." she said looking at him from head to toe in disgust before turning away to leave.
Alexandra stopped and turned back to look at Ha Joon.
"Go find someone else to use to avoid girls, stay away from me", she said and walked away angrily.
Ha Joon let out a soft sigh and watched her walk away without looking back.
He stretched his palm forward and look down at it, thinking of how he had held her hand and how small they were compared to his big hand.
"I can't believe being with her helps, they were quiet.... damn the tiny voices every day is so annoying...." he muttered.
"She must have been so shocked, I was scared her heart would fall out with the fast rate”, he said and smiled to himself.
Later That Day.
Alexandra had waited for her roommate to return from class but she didn't. Any day this happens Alexandra knew Eun Kyung is with Lee min and would not be coming over.
Alexandra removed her shorts and decided to take a stroll out.
She wore a long blue skirt and a crop white top, she carried her cross bag and brought out her canvas shoe, old but still very much okay.
There is an ice cream spot she had been passing by, it is probably the right time to check it out.
On the way out, she took her time to check out the city of Seoul properly.
Seoul is one of the most beautiful cities and she has not been able to tour it until now.
The people minding their business, the beautiful tall buildings, colorful walls, tall transparent wall mirrors, stylish passersby, people were effortlessly beautiful.
One of Alexandra's goals is to go on top of the Seoul tower to glance at the most beautiful views of Seoul.
She brought out her phone to take some pictures of what she considered breathtaking.
Her mouth watered as she walked by street food that was hard to not stare at, the smell was tempting but she had plan for the day, ice cream!.
She smiled to herself and knew she was in the right country.
Alexandra got closer to the ice cream shop, the beautiful view made her stomach grumble for a bite, she increased her steps and walked in excitedly.
It was even prettier on the inside.
“Wow”, she whispered to herself and saw people having ice cream dates. While looking around the beautiful shop, her eyes caught the different flavors available.
Alexandra bite her lips and drooled at the view.
"That looks so yummy", she said.
A sudden tap on her shoulder almost gave her a jumpscare, she turned her head and saw him.
"Ho Jun?".
He saw her shocked eyes and smiled, "Why do I feel like you are following me?", he said and folded his arms.
Alexandra laughed softly, "What? I should ask you that? I got bored and wanted to come down here, you are the one stalking me, admit it", she said and watched him chuckle.
“Well since we are both brought together here by FATE! let us choose our flavor because I can't wait to taste those pretty things staring at me", he said and hurried to take orders while Alexandra followed him.
He took his orders and noticed Alexandra was finding it hard to choose, he turned his face to her and said, "if you have gotten tired of Vanilla or chocolate you can choose from those refreshing-looking red grapes", he said pointing at the flavors.
Alexandra decided to go for red velvet while Ho Jun went for mango flavor, they both sit opposite each other.
They made a satisfying sound at the same time.
"That taste right", Alexandra said smiling at Ho Jun who agreed.
"Is this your first time here?", Ho Jun asked.
She sucked her lips and nodded, "Yes... I got bored and wanted to come try out here, there are so many interesting places to go here, it is all pretty, I want to go everywhere”.
"Let us tour this place together someday, and talking about touring...", Ho Jun paused and grabbed her phone.
Alexandra watched him put his number in her phone, and he dialed it to have her number on his.
"That is better", he said and smiled in triumph as he returned her phone.
She smiled and shook her head.
Why are you bored though? what about your roommate or... Are you part of the rich kids that don't have one", Ho Jun asked while enjoying every taste of the mango flavor.
Alexandra smiled, "I wish...", she said and looked at the boy who was focused on his ice cream, "I have a roommate, she is just not home right now, I think she should be back before I return home.... she is with her boyfriend right now", she said and kept eating the ice cream.
He looked at her, his tiny ice cream spoon stuck in between his lips.
"What about you Alex, do you have a boyfriend?".
She looked at him and laughed out, "Boyfriend? if I have one I will not be here right now, I will be with him, probably talking and laughing together", she said.
The idea of her having a boyfriend made her cringe, she shook her head and chuckled softly.
"Or eating ice cream together", he suggested and watched her nod.
Alexandra instantly realized.
She looked up immediately and then down at their ice creams and back up at him.
They both laughed out.
"You play too much.....", Alexandra said and saw his eyebrows wiggling at her, "You are so cool to hang out with...", she added and immediately thought about Ha Joon, "Unlike him!", she mumbled and licked her ice cream off the spoon.
Ho Jun who could not hear what she had said asked her, "What? you said something," he asked hoping she would say it out.
"Nah, just some random annoying guy, he kept getting on my nerves and every time I am around him I tend to yell and all, I mean he got things going on for him so I wouldn't blame him”, she said.
“Maybe a little blame”, she added and smiled to Ho Jun who was not returning her smile.
She noticed his face and decided to ask.
"What?".
"Nothing", he said sharply.
For some reason, he felt a bit jealous, "She is thinking about someone else", he thought and stopped eating the ice cream.
"He is toxic, I don't know him but stay away from those types of boys okay?", he said smiling at her.
"DEFINITELY, he is not someone I want to see every day, he finds a way to ruin my day", she said and looked down at her ice cream knowing that was not the whole truth.
Her heart says otherwise.
