35: Omegas for Hire

They sit in a circle around the room, staring at me with sapphire eyes shining brilliantly despite the low light.
My hands tremble as I take a sip of water. I’m sitting in the living area with the rest, my mom and Jenna beside me.
Jenna holds my hand, knowing how nervous I am.
I am more than grateful for her friendship. She didn’t have to come with me and risk her life for me, but here she is. Both she and her mother are more than I could ever hope for.
Sixteen people sit crowded shoulder to shoulder in the small room; John is the only one standing, face placid and arms resting casually in his pockets.
“Well?” Annette says, disturbing the silence. “You asked us all to come here. Now, get on with it. Tell us what you want us to hear.” She gives me a deadly glare, and I scoot back in my seat, not wanting to be seen.
I know that all of them can sense what I am without the acknowledgment of words, but still, they politely wait in silence.
