Chapter 123: The Heist

Guys, enjoy the weekend bonus chapter.

.....

Jack found himself in an intriguing predicament. He had hatched a plan to approach his boss the following day and request permission to investigate Arthur, a matter that seemed to be pressing on his mind. Bradley, was quick to inquire about the likelihood of their boss approving this application.

With an air of confidence, Jack replied, "I don't know, but I will discuss it with him using reason. I think he will be convinced by me."

Bradley, always one to appreciate humor, couldn't help but jest, "You're not planning to use magic, are you?"

Amused by Bradley's question, Jack chuckled and denied any magical intentions. "No, no, of course not. When it comes to transactions like this, I prefer to rely on reason and persuasion, never resorting to force."

Bradley let out a sigh of relief, but his tone turned more serious as he cautioned Jack, "Whatever you do, just make sure you don't get involved in politics."

Jack waved his hand dismissively, assuring Bradley, "Don't worry, the IRS is a private organization. What I intend to do is clearly a legitimate transaction."

Bradley couldn't help but give Jack an incredulous look. "Do you even know if what you're about to do is legitimate?"

Despite their banter, the discussion with the IRS branch director turned out as Jack had anticipated. His persuasive arguments, coupled with Hermia's hypnotic magic, convinced the director to grant him permission to act against Arthur. A unique contract was signed, and Jack walked away with the coveted permission certificate.

Jack couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "I really didn't want this to happen. It's all Hermia's independent actions. It has nothing to do with me!"

Whether or not the system believed Jack's claims remained uncertain, and Jack was ready to face whatever consequences lay ahead. Two days later, as he sat in the audience of a Las Vegas show, he listened to the emcee's dramatic introduction.

"Merritt McKinney, Daniel Atlas, Henry Reeves, Jack Wilder! Let us welcome, Arthur Tresler, MGM Grand's proudest gift, the Four Horsemen!"

On the stage, Daniel and his fellow magicians prepared for a remarkable performance. This time, their act was a daring heist of Credit Union de la Republique bank in Paris. Their meticulous preparations and hypnotic skills made it all seem like magic.

They had drawn an unsuspecting man into their grand scheme, brought him to Las Vegas, and manipulated events to their advantage. Now, they were set to execute an audacious plan involving a cash transport truck, Parisian banknotes turned into magician's fire paper, and a hypnotized audience member.

With a twinkle in his eye, Jack watched in anticipation as the Four Horsemen's grand performance unfolded before him, wondering how his involvement in this extraordinary plot would play out in the end.

In a nominal sense, the time travel experiment had supposedly transported the man to the bank in other place. However, the truth was quite different. The man found himself in a concealed chamber beneath the stage, completely under the influence of hypnosis, and in full cooperation with the performance orchestrated by Daniel and his accomplices.

This elaborate ruse gave rise to what could be considered one of the most spectacular, extravagant, and immersive performances in history.

In the eyes of the unsuspecting audience, Daniel and his cohorts appeared to randomly select an individual and then proceeded to execute a bank heist at a far-flung Parisian bank, magically transporting the ill-gotten gains back to Las Vegas in an instant. All of this played out live for the enraptured spectators.

The loot amounted to a staggering three million euros!

For the mesmerized crowd, this was an unbelievable windfall. However, for the FBI and the ICPO (International Criminal Police Organization), it was an audacious and seemingly flawless crime that demanded their immediate attention.

Within an hour, the incident had set off alarm bells within the FBI and ICPO. Both organizations swiftly assembled investigative teams, with FBI agent Dylan Lord and ICPO's Alma Dre being selected as key members of this joint task force.

Meanwhile, in the opulent presidential suite atop the MGM Grand Hotel...

"Congratulations," Arthur nodded approvingly as he observed Daniel and his companions. "But this is only the beginning. The FBI and ICPO have already launched an investigation into your activities. I can arrange for legal counsel..."

"No, Arthur," Daniel interjected, his tone confident. "There's no need for that. We can make our exit under our own terms. In fact, this could be a valuable bargaining chip for you to invest in us, don't you think?"

"Are you certain?" Arthur inquired.

"I believe so," Daniel replied, casting a meaningful glance at his three associates. "Yes."

"Very well," Arthur conceded with a nod. "If you can indeed pull this off, I'll sweeten the deal with an additional half a percent. In that case, I'll eagerly await your positive outcome..."

As he spoke, Arthur's personal assistant approached, whispering a few urgent words into his ear.

"What?" Arthur exclaimed, his expression instantly changing. "Are they in the conference room right now?"
