Chapter 3: An adventurer's skill

Trying to find an adventurer outside Orario was as rare as trying to find a needle in the ocean.

After all, adventurers are forbidden from leaving the city because the guild is afraid they would reduce Orario's military advantage.

That's why adventurers outside of Orario were almost invincible existences among normal people.

Born to a family of farmers, Kadyn and his brother, Wyll, have been living a normal and peaceful life in the village.

They worked hard every day to feed their wives and children.

Although small, this was their purpose in life.

As long as their family was healthy and happy, it was worth it.

Everything was fine until the bandits came in, asking for taxes. And those who couldn't afford it were ruthlessly killed.

Since he had many children, Kadyn couldn't afford to pay the taxes so the bandits killed one of his children as a warning.

Because he was too weak, he could only watch one of his children die in front of him.

It was from that day that the brothers' purpose in life changed.

They wished for power. It wasn't worth working hard every day to make their families happy if they couldn't protect them in the end.

It was also they who convinced everyone to gather their strength in hope of getting rid of the bandits today.

However just like before, they, were, once again powerless in front of strength.

"Run away, Wyll! I'll buy you some time. When you arrive at the village, move everyone away, and don't come back here!" Kadyn shouted as he turned around, facing the incoming bandits' boss, Angar.

He didn't have any other choice. The monster in front of him was too fast so he had to buy his brother some time by sacrificing his life.

Seeing his brother's hesitation, Kadyn shouted once again, "Just go!"

"F*ck!" Wyll cursed before running away. He didn't want to leave his brother alone, but even if they fought together against the bandit's boss, they still wouldn't stand a chance.

"Ahahah!" Angar lauged at the villager in front of him. "How long do you think an ant like you can last against me? At least you've got some guts, I'll give you that. Too bad, you are just a farmer. Otherwise, you would have made a good opponent." After this, the man swung his massive war axe downward toward Kadyn.

"...!" Although the latter tried to block it with his spading fork, the war axe easily cut through it as if it wasn't there in the first place.

The incoming attack was too fast for him to avoid. At that moment, he knew it was the end for him. 'I count on you brother. Protect everyone. It seems like this is where we'll be separated...'

One second...

Two seconds...

Three seconds...

Still nothing...?

When Kadyn opened his eyes, a young handsome boy with long white hair reaching the end of his neck stood in front of him, and, for an unknown reason, the boy's upper body was naked.

However, his mouth fell open at the sight of the war axe that was blocked in his hands.

It was a giant axe! And the man who swung it was a tall and muscular level 2 adventurer!

Even the metal part of his spading fork was sliced in half.

How could a young man block it with a bare hand?!

"How?!" Angar shouted in shock. He was even more shocked than Kadyn since the weird event happened in front of his eyes.

The newcomer seemed to have appeared between them in an instant and took the axe as if it was a toy! "This is impossible! Are you also an adventurer?!"

"I don't know. You tell me," the youngster replied. "How do I become an adventurer?"

"Your strength surpasses that of an ordinary person. How dare you tell me you are not an adventurer?" Angar said in anger. "Don't take me for a fool!"

But just as he was about to pull back his axe, a daze look appeared on his face as he couldn't pull it back no matter what. "You—"

Before he could finish his sentence, a kick sent him flying away toward a tree, crushing the bandits unfortunate enough that stood in between.

"Here take your toy back," Xiao casually threw the weapon back to its previous owner.

"You piece of sh*t" As a vein popped on his forehead, Anger stood up on his foot, not caring about the taste of blood in his mouth. "You'll regret this!"

'Mhn...?' Xiao raised his eyebrows. 'His strength is increasing at a crazy rate...' he thought, leaping backward to avoid the strike.

The axe made a deep cut on the ground. The power behind it was so strong that even ten spading forks wouldn't have been enough.

'An Early-stage Foundation? Impressive, I didn't see him take any pills. This must be the work of his skill.'

Since Xiao wanted to test out the abilities of an adventurer, he didn't kill his opponent immediately.

Instead, he just avoided the attacks while observing the enemy's skill. However, to the spectator's eyes, it seemed as if he was playing with his prey.

"Stop running around you motherf*cker!"

"Fine. I have seen enough anyway."

"What...?" In a flash, the bandits' boss's head fell to the ground. Xiao's sword was so fast that the man's head had some time, to see his own headless body, with blood surging out like a fountain.
