Chapter 1: [Prologue] Dying is Better than Suffering...
"I don't want to die of old age..." an old man said to himself as he gazed down at the gushing waterfall below him as he stood on a bridge made for tourists.
He was an orphan that had a bad start but he built himself a successful career and could be called successful but had no one to whom he was close. He was so focussed on getting higher and higher in society that he never made any meaningful bonds or tried to build relationships outside his business. This became his regret when he became old.
He started to doubt his past decisions in the face of the inevitable death that he was heading towards with his increase in age. He turned 40 this year and was still healthy but how long would he stay so?
80? 100? or maybe 110 years if he was lucky? It was not worth it...What's the point of living so long but being so old that you can't even walk properly?
As if the world was mocking his efforts, he was diagnosed with a rare heart disease that restricted his mobility and he was found to have a brain tumour. Thankfully with the money that he had, he was able to cure himself of these diseases but the process made him wonder...what's next?
Will he get some other disease as he got older? Maybe arthritis or even getting blind and hard of hearing? He would rather die than suffer any more pain.
Which led him to today looking down at the so-called Wonder of the World "Victoria Falls". Early this month he had cut himself off from all his attachments in the business world. Sold everything he could from digital assets to properties and belongings.
If someone got to know the total money that he had in the swiss account now then they won't hesitate to declare that he was the richest man in the world. But it meant little to the man in question. After pondering for a while he decided to donate all his money to charities and hospitals of all kinds that he had verified to be legitimate. It's not that he is super kind or anything...he just thinks it's better to do one last good deed before he disappears.
While reminiscing about his past his determination became more firm, he hated the society of this age. The constant rat race to the top tired him, even the olden age was better than living in the present age. At least people got to live in ignorance of the whole world in their own small communities. There was more humanity back then than there is at present.
This two-faced world with two-faced people be damned! I wish in my next life I am born in some universe where I can live in ancient times!
Wishing this the old man leapt from the bridge with surprising agility for his age while ignoring the shouts behind him.
The few seconds before impact he felt refreshed like never before. The water droplets from the waterfall and the steam covered his body and he felt relaxed for the first time in many years.
It was finally over.
He can rest now...

.
Then everything went black as the old man embraced his death with a smile.
