“Now,” Greyson begins, “did you know the smell of citrus has multiple uses? Including being used as a triggering scent for hypnosis, when added with certain ingredients?” He lifts his head, locking his eyes with mine. “For instance, honey, lysel sprigs, and cliff salt. They can relax you into an openminded state.”

He lowers his face, bringing it closer to mine. “Do you notice a different smell?”

I refuse to register it. “Unless my nose is broken, no.”

He smirks, “Oh really?” He asks, lowering himself low enough to whisper in my ear. “I think you do. Why else are you letting me get this close to you without even tensing? You always tense when I’m this close to your neck.”

“Maybe because you’ve been doing this for the last five minutes?” I suggest, trying to force my mind to stay sharp. He isn’t lying.
