Chapter 8: Brother Nan
"Brother Nan !!", Shen Qiao softly called out to a burly yet not bad looking man.
In a highly frequented street of the county, at a new popular coffee shop sat a beautiful and innocent looking girl waving excitedly at a burly man.
Brother Nan beamed with joy when he saw his Qiaoqiao who looked like a gentle deer, when he approached her, he suddenly noticed her arm which was fully bandaged, and when he saw her pale face, drooping eyes and dark circles under them, he panicked and raised his voice in anger.
"Qiaoqiao, what happened?! Why are you in such a state, tell me, brother Nan will help you out."
"This is…", she said in a hesitant voice and her watery eyes looked at the man in front of her in an aggrieved manner.
"Tell me Qiaoqiao, don't worry, brother will protect you."
"No, it is not like this, it's just a misunderstanding", Shen Qiao lowered her eyes and forced a smile on her face.
"There is a big brother who got injured in our hospital. Yesterday, I wanted to visit my uncle and noticed the big brother's door open, so...", she suddenly stopped and twisted around pitifully as if she didn't want to tell what happened.
"Did that guy do anything?!", Brother Nan said angrily.
"N-no, re-really!! It was a misunderstanding, when I approached the bed to fix his bedsheets, he-", she shivered as if she didn't want to say anything else.
"He what?!? Tell me big brother will protect you!!"
"N-no, it's really a misunderstanding, he accidentally pulled me and teared my shirt, when I tried to get out of the ward latter on, I…", the soft and pitiful girl let out a tear and continued: "He just wanted to say sorry, really, I'm the one at fault, I shouldn't have refused him…"
The burly man suddenly hit the wall and angrily laughed.
"B-big brother?", innocent eyes stared at him making him even more angry at the bastard who wanted to sully his princess.
"Which ward is he in?", he asked trying to control his anger.
"Ward 190"
Ward 190, Huh?
Brother Nan suddenly turned around to head towards the base he established with some of his friends when they were young, and ask them help to teach the little bastard a lesson.
"Wait brother!", but he didn't stop this time and left in a hurry.
The innocent face suddenly turned into a vicious one filled with satisfaction.
Li Shan will die for sure now.
'Fool', Shen Qiao smirked and turned around proudly like a peacock.
Meanwhile, in the ward, an awkward silence filled the room.
They have agreed to become a temporary couple, however, none of them know how a couple should behave. Li Shan had never mixed with other girls, even the company was mostly constituted of men. Shen Jin knows how to seduce men even though she had never done so, therefore, she, who has never considered being in a relationship one day, didn't know what to do in this situation.
"Maybe, we should hold hands?", Li Shan's hesitant voice rang out.
"I'm a ghost remember", Shen Jin laughed dryly.
Holding hands, kissing, eating together, going on a date…
None of these common things could be done.
Li Shan and Shen Jin couldn't even touch each other.
"Well, we can watch a movie together?", she tried.
"They took all the electronic devices I used to carry with me.", Li Shan quickly replied.
Frowning, Shen Jin hesitated.
"I like peanuts", she said randomly and tried to tell him more about her and lessen the awkward situation.
Smiling charmingly, Li Shan said: "I like the sunset. Maybe, in the next life, I will take you there."
Shen Jin's eyes lit up with joy, like a child who just received candy.
"Seems fun, you had better not forget."
Their eyes met and Shen Jin said: "Then, I will bring you to see my favorite bookstore. And we will read some sexy passages", she said playfully.
Li Shan's cheeks flushed red as he looked at her intensely as if he wished to swallow her whole.
'I will make you my Queen. I will love you every night, every morning, every second of my life', Li Shan thought.
"Then, I will let you live them with me, the passages", he finally said.
Shen Jin was not a fool, she knew that she was falling in love, so deeply that she might never escape from it. She knew, yet she wanted to love, love for the first and last time, something she had never considered all her life, but now she was dead, her existence as a ghost was vain, and her only redemption was this man.
"I love you…", She whispered softly.
Li Shan felt his heart stopped beating for an instant, feeling dizzy, he looked at her in desperation, he wanted to hug her, he wanted to kiss her, and marry her, yet he couldn't.
He just met her, but it was as if he knew her since long ago.
"Me too…", he would definitely destroy this world, the world who took her away before he could even have a chance with her. But for now, he only wanted to stay in this very room, accompany her till the end.
However, there is no story that actually follows a perfect plot, there are only wishes that may never happen.
