Sage couldn’t keep the gushing smile from her face. She felt like a teenager again, struck by all the new feelings of being in love and the high of her climax. Caspian walked beside her, his hand wrapped around hers. They were silent as they walked toward her tower.

There was still too much they needed to discuss, but in the meantime, she wanted to enjoy his company, revel in the night’s events, and ignore what they faced in the morning.

Caspian walked her to her door. He smiled down at her and wrapped her in a hug. Sage relaxed into him, feeling safe and content.

“You didn’t think I would actually say no, did you?” Sage asked into his chest.

“The way you beat me up in combat class had me second-guessing for a minute. I thought you wanted me dead.”

Sage shrugged. “Don’t keep things from me again, shifter, and we won’t have a problem.”

Caspian chuckled. “I won’t, witch.”

Sage stepped out of his hug and kissed him.

“Goodnight, Sage.”
