Chapter 37: Chapter 37: The Gala

John's POV

He had been relieved when Rhiannon had agreed to get ready at his place. Then, he had been a little confused when she showed up with basically a suitcase full of makeup and hair styling gadgets.

John couldn't stand the thought of pacing in the living room of her apartment while he watched her sit on the floor to do her makeup.

Here, Rhiannon was the true art exhibit.

She sat running a brush through her long, dark hair, bathed in the orange glow of the setting sun. John was fully entranced by her. She wore one of his button up shirts; she had told him she wouldn't want to have to pull her t-shirt over her head after she'd done her hair and makeup.

Rhiannon flicked her eyes to John who sat perched on the bathtub, watching her through the mirror. A sweet smile touched her lips.

"What are you looking at?" she teased.

"You take forever to get ready," John taunted.

"I warned you," Rhiannon shrugged.

John chuckled.
