Chapter 31: Before Reality...

The Guardian first started a village after he fled the fallen kingdom. In his infinite wisdom he realized that in order to accomplish his two main goals he would need to create three things.

The village was meant to serve as the first of those goals. It was the origin of our kingdom and for the league as well. It served as an experiment for the guardian in the beginning.

Of course, that same village now serves as the center of the kingdom and the two organizations founded by our guardian with only those select few important beings allowed there.

Now I'm sure you all know the first reason The Guardian created the big three, which was revenge for those of you who are slow on the uptake.

But what was the second reason?

- A transcript from a lesson regarding the founding of the big three

"Yes, my lord. It seems those bastards from Dregh and Atlea have broken the rules of grandmasters. You would've learned this at some point if they hadn't gotten greedy but Grandmasters all normally agree to not interact with kingdoms or politics unless their direct family is threatened."

"Do they not fear other grandmasters stepping up to take them out if it's an agreement between grandmasters?" Charon asked as he thought of a possible answer.

The Butler coughed as more black phlegm flew from his mouth before responding, "It would seem that they have gained something to make them confident of no retaliation."

As they talked, The Butler's flesh slowly began to be consumed by the shadows. The Butlers eye was the last bit of flesh as he told Charon everything that he witnessed before his defeat.

"I managed to hold myself together by limiting my mana to just barely holding myself together until summoned, but it seems I could only last a month." The Butler could swear he saw his first two kings standing behind Charon as inky black tears fell from his eyes.

"I am tired lord Titus. I have served faithfully like I promised you two." His face was no longer facing Charon, but an empty spot behind him.

"Get some rest, you were the perfect butler." Charon covered his hands in Astral Energy before laying the Butler flat on the ground.

" Thank you Ventus…" The Butler said his last words as his vision went black.

He opened his once more however, to find himself on a beach as felt himself drawn toward the cloaked ferryman who held a set of scales.

"You have lived a loyal and faithful life. You have done well." The Butler heard a familiar voice from the cloaked figure before blinking again.

As he opened his eyes again, he found himself in the first home he had.

"What do you think,Borrelus?" A face that The Butler, Borrelus, was very familiar with asked as he looked towards him.

Borrelus felt a smile form on his face as he whispered to himself, "Thank you, Charon."

"What?" Ventus asked in confusion.

"Nothing, my lord. I think that is up to you and your brother." Borrelus gave a bow to hide the tear falling from his eye.

In the Cabin, Hades watched on in a mixture of shock and understanding as he could see a tiny river and ferryman leaving Charon's body.

"Enjoy your rest. Leave the rest to me, Borrelus." Charon watched the Procession for a prolonged moment before turning towards Hades.

Hades flinched as he could swear he saw a black flame briefly reflect in Charon's pearly white eyes before he blinked and it was gone.

"Now, we have much to prepare and so little time to do so." Charon accentuated this sentence with a snap.

With that snap, resounded a wave of Astral Energy which began to carry the various books strewn about the storage cabin and began to float them up and out of the hole above them.

Minos And Charon's children watched on in shock for a moment as Charon walked past them, before the three regained themselves and quickly caught up with Charon who was halfway up the stairs to the deck.

"What is your plan, Brother?" Hades gave Charon an inquisitive glance as they reached the deck of the ship.

Charon gave a smile towards Hades as his hand rose palm up, even as tens of books began to rise out of the hole in the deck and orderly stack themselves along the path the group walked.

On his upturned palm, a wisp of astral energy appeared. Nyx saw this and ran forward to curiously poke at the wisp. Once her finger touched the wisp, Elizabeth let out a gasp as the Wisp turned into a tiny version of Charon.

The mini Charon Wore the same manic smile as the original currently did, as he grabbed hold of Nyx' outstretched finger. The mini Charon kicked off of Nyx' finger to flip multiple times in the air only to land on said finger and give a friendly wave.

Nyx responded with a childish giggle, as her brother watched on in awe. Charon patted both of their heads, as he let go however, a string of astral energy fell from his falling finger. A string which Mini Charon ran and grabbed.

Mini Charon then used this to launch himself further along their path, as a group of people also made of astral energy rose up to greet him.

"We need people. We need as many people who can use astral energy as we can get." Charon continued as his children were distracted by tiny blue people dancing around playfully.

Hades' eyes widened as he connected the dots, "So the reapers…"

Charon gave Hades a grin before holding a finger up to his mouth and pointing towards his still distracted children.

"Yes, What you think is correct. Of course, we will need a way to gather followers. Thankfully we have arrived at the Brindwal continent…"

Rhada's eyes widen as she looks at Charon, "You mean you want to gather all those who have come to explore the continent?"

"Incorrect. I do not want to, I need to. We are not strong enough to fight a kingdom. I would much rather continue my research with my family, however, I refuse to exist in the same world as those scum."

Minos, still confused at this point about the plan, steps forward to pat Charon's back understandingly.

Charon gives Minos an awkward smile in response before waving his hand in front of them. Wisps of Astral Energy fly out of his hand to form an army of the blue people , all of them faceless this time.

"After this is done, I would prefer to step back and retire. I despise the idea of leading afterall." Charon's face, a mask which covers his inner rage, stared at the tiny replica of his enemies.

He releases a sigh as all the illusory figures evaporate back into wisps and fly back towards him.

"What can I do?" Elizabeth's eyes glowed with resolve towards her brother.

"Not yet, first we must make sure that our fellow escapees are able to exist in peace before we leave."

With Charon's words, the rest of the party realizes with a shock that they are now at the edge of the boat. They stare out at the remnants of Nekronis with different thoughts swirling through each of their heads.

Elsewhere, in a different weave entirely. There is a group gathered around a table with a symbol of a hand outstretched, with several drops of blood falling down.

"We all sensed it, a new aspect has fallen down." One cloaked figure spoke with joy and a hint of madness.

"Of course it did, the aspects must fall." Another cloaked figure spoke with nothing but reverence.

"As our founder said, We cannot interfere. They shall rise and fall with each breath."

"Like drops of blood, fallen from that which our reality breathes. May they rain down eternally." An elderly voice eked out from under one of the raised hoods.

"May they rain down Eternally." The rest of the cloaked figures said together joyously.

"We shall add this to our records, although it seems one of the aspects of war has already made his move." Another cloaked figure added in.

"Hmm, Where is his weave?" the only person not covered in a cloak asked.

"It seems that his myth is based on the storyteller's nebula, lord aspect." A cloaked figure bowed towards the man.

"Intriguing, it would seem that he is not aspected to creation then." a grin played across the man's face as ideas flitted across his mind.

"Well, I shall task you, my scions, with transcribing his mythos as always. But don't forget, do not interfere."

"For The Aspects! For the Greats! For Those who breathe reality!" The rest of those gathered shouted in response before leaving.

The man sat in his chair with a maniacal grin on his face. His eyes slowly closed as he leaned back and began to recite something which he had continuously for nearly a millennium now.

"Before reality, there was the void. Before Life and death, There was Creation and destruction. Before Evolution, There was stagnation…"
