Chapter 9: I will marry anyone you want me to

I walked back to Mom and Liam, they were having tea, there was no other possible reason for him to be here if not the proposal but let's see what exactly Father is trying to do, he always has a catch.

"Come here Peral," Mom really wants me to get married to him? I can't believe her, she should be thinking about her kidneys instead of matchmaking, but I still walked closer to her.

My father moved away sitting on the couch and seeing to the conversation, if only he listened to her the same way when I was little they never would have separated and I would not have had to spend my childhood without a father.

"Mom, let this be" I tried to bargain but nothing was working, she can really be adamant when it comes to things she wants.

"Peral" She warned and I knew this was my time to drop the conversation and do whatever she expected from me.

"Okay," I gave up, making her angry was the last thing I would want to happen to her.

"You don't like me Peral?" I turn to look at Liam, there is no way any woman would want to turn him down but this is weird, this can't be this easy, as if it is staged perfectly without a mistake.

I can clearly see they're just playing a role, I stare at him, trying to find the words to reply to him but the phone beside my mother rang, and Liam received it because he was close.

"Hello" He listened for a while and then got up "I'll be down in a minute," He said before he disconnected the call. I stared at him to explain what was happening

"The call was for me, someone scratched my car, I'll go take a look," He said I wanted to offer help but he vanished, he looked a little worried maybe it was an expensive car.

"Peral what is this behavior?" I turn my head to my 'said' father, I look at him confused, just because I held his hands doesn't mean we are even, there is nothing in this world that can make this even.

"What do you mean?" I tried to control my anger, but I am sure he sensed it, and his eyes soothed.

"I mean, about Liam, he is here for you but you don't even spare him a glance, did you forget we are doing this for your Mom" Is he serious right now? Does he love her more than me? I tried to calm down, I walked away from them both a little away.

"Tell me what's there for you in this, then I'll even bed with him" I should wash my mouth, this filth is bad, I shouldn't talk like this.

"Watch the way you talk to your father Peral" Mom tried to remind me, exactly. there was no father in my life

"Fathers get treated the same way, he was never with me what are you guys expecting me to do?" I snapped, I had been hiding it way too long and that was killing me, at this rate, I would die before my mother did.

"I expect nothing from you, just keep your mouth shut and marry Liam" I hear my Mom say, is she being serious right now? I questioned my father about his intake and she is still stuck with the marriage.

"That is a lot and I am sorry to break it to you, I am not marrying anyone" I pause staring at them "Never" I sense the disappointment but I couldn't care less about it not anymore, they should have known better.

"If you don't listen to me, I will make sure you never see me ever again," Mom said getting up from the bed, she really wanted to do it, but after today she would never get her way, nope.

"Do whatever you want, either way, I am your only guardian, they would call me first, no matter what the situation" I was calm and I am sure she was not expecting this, I won't lie I wasn't either, this is crazy, I promised do to anything to keep her happy but this is getting hard, even now she is taking his side leaving me alone.

"No they will not, they will contact Paul, he is my legal guardian" What did she say? her ex-husband is her guardian? Did she forget she is no longer married to him?

"Are you having amnesia now? He is not your guardian, he can never be, you guys divorced did you forget that?" I ask sarcastically, she looks at me at a loss for words, there is no way I am letting her have her way, not anymore.

"I knew you were not responsible enough, that's why I asked her to file me as her guardian" My father replied, did he just say responsible? I couldn't help but laugh at the word 'Responsible', I couldn't believe what I just heard. I wipe the tears from the corners of my eyes staring at them.

"You are funny Dad, it's so funny to listen to you talk about being responsible" I laughed sarcastically "I mean you were not even present on your daughter's birthdays making some lame excuses and you telling me about being responsible?" I shook my head "Is this what you meant by you liked him because he was funny" I asked Mom facing her because it did make sense now.

"Peral, don't cross your limits" Mom warned me but it was too late, there was no going back for me, not anymore. I stared at her challenging her to tell me something to do again, but she started crying, the ultimate move, I stared at her not moving from my place and soon she groaned in pain and father pressed the button and the doctors came running to check her and added some more drugs to her IV. I stare at my mother and the guilt ran through my body, watching her struggle.

"She is fine now, don't do anything to make her angry or something that would cause stress, I have already informed you to be gentle with her, you don't want to regret it later," The doctor said and I looked back at my mother with her eyes closed on the bed, and Paul beside her, maybe I am really not responsible, and now I regret letting my emotions running all through me, I nod and the doctor left the room and I moved close to Mom.

"I am sorry," I said holding her hands and trying my best to stay calm, and not get triggered again.

"Just leave Peral, go live your life, and let me die in peace," Mom said brushing my hands from hers.

"I will marry anyone you want me to" I shouldn't have said that this was insane, everything about this was insane, my mother turned back to look at me and tears rolled down my eyes, I would do anything for her, even if she wanted me to marry someone.

"Then marry him as soon as possible" She offered and I nodded to her "How about this Sunday?" She asked my father and he nodded agreeing to it "Perfect" She looked happy again.

"We can inform Paul when he comes back," Father said, but I did not spare another glance at him. I did not want to, I am doing this for my mother and I am sure there is some hidden catch for him which he is not telling me, but I can't fight anymore. My mother never lets me win against him, she knows she is my weakness and she always uses that against me to make me say yes to her.

I wiped my tears and looked at my mother she was happy now, smiling at me, I smiled back and the door opened, I was trying hard to control my emotions and wiped the remaining tears from my face before I heard something.

"Hello, wife!" My father looked at me confused and so did my mother, I looked back to the source of the voice and my body went in shock, the same brown eyes staring at me coming closer to me, I must move, move far away from him but I couldn't move, my feet were stuck to the floor, and he came to me placing his right hand around my shoulder, kissing me.

Did he just kiss me in front of my parents? And Liam walked inside the room, and in front of Liam too.

I pushed him away feeling disgusted and wiping my lips but nothing mattered to him, he pulled me in for another kiss. I struggled under him but no one dared to come closer to help me and take him off me.
