He recalled the addictive scent on her, it was just as it used to be, only that she smelled fresher now and more mature. The scent that left his wolf crazy and with a desire to dominate. Her scent left him craving and desiring to unravel every inch of her, especially the green dress that she wore.
He remembered when she knocked into him and her tiny frame clung on to him like she was unwilling to let go, the astonishment in her golden orbs and the swirling of excitement within them. Her presence alone was bound to make him crazy. She invaded his boundaries leaving him the urge to want to find a spot for himself in her life too.
He ran his tongue over his lips and dropped his eyes. Just then, as his eyes fell on her again, a figure came by and blocked his view of the woman— it was a young man.
His expression, which had only slightly improved that night suddenly morphed into coldness, his brows twisted into a knot, and a dark storm brew in his red eyes.
From the angle he sat, he saw his little woman bite her lips and dropped her eyes to the ground like a little cat while the young man said something to her. That expression made her docile, it should be exclusively for him alone.
"Who is that?" he seethed through his gritted teeth.
"Who?" Dominik jolted and stepped back, he raised his head and subconsciously glanced around until his gaze unexpectedly dropped to Aaron.
"Your majesty, I—"
"She is not allowed to smile at other men like that!" The king let out an inaudible possessive growl.
Dominik could not help but frown, he looked away from the king and looked at the lady, from afar, she appeared frail, smiling innocently as though her face was kissed by numerous stars, nonetheless, she was a mere human.
Among all, he wondered why the king had to pick her out of all the other ladies in the room. His grave expression reflected his thoughts to the king picking such a woman as his mate.
"Before noon tomorrow, I want you to give me all the information you can gather about her... include the information about the two around her too!" the king ordered, and without giving his man a chance to respond, one moment he was sitting and the next, he was gone.
The Delta's face darkened, for a woman, he would have to bear with the king's unnecessary mood swing.
...
"Where were you, did I not tell you not to leave?" Aaron questioned as soon as he laid his eyes on the lady.
His face revealed his displeasure as he ran his eyes across her body seriously, seeing that she had returned with Maddy, he could not help but heave a sigh of relief.
He had only left to find her some food when after a minute or two, Maddy rushed to him and claimed that she was missing! No one could imagine what he felt like, it was as though his heart was purged out of his chest in the most brutal way.
He has no idea of where he discarded the plate of Apple pie he got her and began looking around for her. If she were missing in some other places, he would not have such exasperated feelings.
However, in such a place as the palace, who did not know that the place was a horror to ladies? Any female who was said to have crossed paths with the king in the past would have her head missing from her neck...
Who knew if such gruesome action really existed or if it was mere rumors by the people in the kingdom? Whichever way, whether it was true or not, Aaron could not risk it.
He looked at her, his anger quickly dispersed as though it was not there before. Her current puckered lips and guilty expression were enough to move his heart, the protective side of him could not help but awaken with her around.
"I did not mean to go away... heavens be my witness, I only wanted to see if I could get something to eat..." Eve expressed with little guilt and chewed on her lips. She glared at her pointy shoes and cursed them for her own disobedience.
"Sigh... that is enough, I don't want to be harsh on you but, you also have to listen to me, danger lurks in every corner of the Palace, you must be very careful and don't go to where Maddy or I am not" Aaron calmly instructed.
Eve bobbed her head seriously, her eyes lingered on the ground and she pulled her lips to form a thin line, the thought of Aaron's words rang in her head a few times more.
Danger lurks in every corner of the palace...
"Hey, Maddy, what is with you? I feel like you have been quite away and looking here and there, someone caught your eyes?" Aaron voiced, he looked around and Eve also joined and looked around.
"Ah... no, a while ago, it just felt like someone was watching us" Maddy's crystal clear green eyes narrowed slightly as she snapped out of her daze.
"Watching us?" Aaron quizzed and also glanced around alertly. His eyes shifted slightly and became darker, he scanned around the room but he sensed no one, he could not help but frown.
"What did you see?!" Eve asked, she pinched the edge of his cloth and tugged at it gently.
The young man felt the little touch that reached his heart, he sighed softly and pinched the space between his brows before looking at Eve and Maddy.
"No one" he muttered.
"No one?" Maddy arched a brow, she subconsciously tilted her body slightly and glanced behind her.
Just a while ago... She felt the scouring gaze from that end— Although, it did not feel like the gaze was upon her—
"Ah!"
Maddy suddenly parted get lips and let out a soft sound, she clutched her chest and her eyes flashed with panic. Eve was no better, her face paled and her legs wobbled, Aaron quickly caught her before she fell back.
"She still uses this on you?" Aaron worriedly uttered and the girls bobbed their heads in response.
"She thinks we will escape her someday..." Maddy said and sighed, "It is time to return."
"Curse her, witch!" Eve spat angrily. She pulled out of Aaron's grip and began walking away. Maddy grabbed her skirt and hurried after her as soon as she waved at Aaron.
As they walked out of the ballroom, the scornful eyes of the werewolf socialites followed their movement until they disappeared from their sight.
