CHAPTER8-WHAT!
"Why do you choose to act this way my princess, don't you know the kingdom's eyes are on you? Yet you go out to have fun with a commoner. He's not even of your own status, he's a mare gardener.
Don't you think you're giving him too many opportunities to get too close to you? You aren't even preparing for your coronation ceremony. I heard the council members say you threatened to cancel, is that true?"
Zena looked at Ann with tired eyes. She knew Ann was truly worried about the kingdom's welfare;
"I will then have to postpone the coronation. Send words to the council members and also to the king of the second realm, tell him I am truly sorry for the inconvenience. And nanny please do not wake me up so early tomorrow, you know fully well I had a long day. Just in case Levi comes by, tell him I had a great time and would love to spend another time with him. Good night nanny."
She spared herself from Ann's tantrums by concluding their conversation.
Ann was left speechless. She knew her princess would neither postpone nor asked not to be woken up early;
"This madness has to stop! Her father wouldn't want her to be this way. I would have to talk some sense into that garden boy." All these were Ann's thoughts as she tucked Zina into bed for the night.
The sun had risen high up in the sky, Marcus approached Xavier who was having his usual morning tea. He held a letter in his hand which came from the first realm and he was hoping it was good news, so his master would at least get a chance to meet Zina soon.
His happiness faded and his footsteps slowed down the moment he saw Xavier's pet tiger Edan. He looked disgustingly scared at the sight of the pet so he decided to question the young king;
"Your Majesty, did you really have to bring Edan out this fine morning? I think he should be on his side of the palace where he wouldn't be a disturbance to anyone."
Xavier, who already had a grin on his face, cleared his throat to answer Marcus.
"Edan isn't a disturbance to anyone. I brought him to sit with me while I have my breakfast. If you have anything to say, say it now because I really do not have all day."
Marcus stretched out his hands revealing the letter sent by the first realm. He told Xavier all about it, waiting to see the outcome of the letter. Xavier, who had already picked it up, brought it out from the envelope and began to go through it.
His countenance changed, making his forehead to forrow. He stood up from his seat not caring if any of the teacups or jugs falls down and at that time, he spoke in anger
"What!, What is this? Who does this princess think she is? Does she think she can inform me then cancel at will? just when I thought my plan would be in motion, it's just so outrageous. Marcus! Set up a meeting with this princess and I . I don't care to know how you'll do it, all that matters to me is that throne."
Marcus took a bow in acknowledgement, leaving to carry out the orders Xavier had instructed him. He had only relaxed when he thought Xavier would meet the princess in her coronation ceremony which was in a few days time but now that it had been postponed, it meant more work for him.
He took a pen and paper to write the letter he planned on sending to the princess. After he had finished writing the letter, he placed it inside an envelope before giving it to one of the royal guards instructing them to let the person delivering it know that it must get to the princess without any delay.
Some hours later, the same guard that went on Marcus' erand came to inform him that the letter had gotten to the princess of the first realm.
"That's good", Marcus spoke to himself as he slowly sipped his drink.
The letter which had reached the first realm was received by Ann since Zina made it clear that she doesn't want to be disturbed. It was almost noon and there was no sign of the princess waking up.
"I wonder what this farm boy has done to the princess to make her sleep like this. Am I sure she isn't dead? I will have to go pay him a visit myself so that I can warn him to stay away from the princess for good. He has brought nothing but unseriousneas and problems to Zina.
"Prepare the royal carriage, we're going to pay that farm boy a visit". Ann spoke in readiness to the guard incharge of the carriage.
What seemed like a long ride finally ended as Ann came out of the Carriage staring at Levi's home. It was a decent cottage with pretty flowers around to beautify it . Levi, who noticed the royal carriage and the visitors, came out to welcome them but Ann showed no interest. She came here to tell him what she felt would benefit the princess.
"I want you to stay far away from the princess, only God knows what happened yesterday. She was so tired she didn't wake up on time like she used to. She changed drastically due to your influence and I don't want that. You're not even in her status, I know people like you are only after the throne but you see, your thoughts are mere imaginations that would never come true.
This time it was a warning, next time you won't be so lucky."
After her statement, Ann got into the carriage. She didn't even spare Levi a glance before the carriage drove off, leaving only a trail of dust. Levi, who never expected this to happen, was stunned. He stepped into his home to have some alone time with himself so he could clear his head.
Meanwhile when Ann reached the palace, she met an already dressed Zina who looked smart and ready to work again. Zina on the other hand felt something was wrong. She scanned Ann's face trying to get the answers to her unanswered questions, wondering what this old woman had done and to whom.
