Although the entire Caldwell family was aware of her existence, the woman rarely made her appearance at family functions, let alone in public.

She was the second wife of Lord Marcus Caldwell, commonly known as Lady Grey. Although she had only been a vampire for less than fifty years, the woman held the highest position within the Caldwell family.

Lady Grey always wore a long black veil that extended from the crown of her head down to her shoulder. It almost looked like a bride's veil.

The fabric was thick enough to hide her face from all the curious eyes that peered at her.

In fact, Lady Grey had never shown her face to anyone but her husband.

Some people claimed that something unexpected happened to Lady Grey during her transformation into a vampire. Some others claimed that the lady was maimed by a rabid vampire. There were other theories, but all of them pointed toward possible disfigurement.
