Olive's pov
The driver hands me his phone.
"Thank you" I say meekly.
My hands are shaking. Beads of sweat accumulate on my forehead.
Is it because of my energy being depleted or fear?
While murmuring to recall, I dial Lily's number.
In the police station I acted courageously, but now it seems I have lost all my strength to keep going on
"Sir please drive to the nearest hospital" I convey politely.
He nods his head.
Luckily the phone gets through and Lily picks up on the first bell.
"Hello.." a feeble voice escapes from within me. I clutch the phone firmly and tears well up in my eyes.
Gosh why am I being so emotional?
"Lily.." I am unable to say any further when a shrieking voice resonates in my ear
"Olive? oh my… are you okay? Where are you? Do you even know how worried we were?"
"We?"
"Your mom and I we are so upset. She said you were talking to her and.."
I cut in
"Hey it's a long story. For now just pick me up from the hospital ok?
I am fine it's just a little sprain in the ankle. I will let you know which hospital when I get there ok?
Just tell mom I am fine and that my phone's battery died. See you at the hospital bye"
"Wait" I don't even pause to hear her reply and simply end the call
"Thank you" I say while handing the phone back over.
He simply nods his head in reply
I rummage through my stuff to see if I dropped something.
Phew all my things are there
I can pay for the fare and the hospital bills
That's a relief.
Oh.
How did I even fall? There is a blue bruise on my toe too.
Why couldn't I feel any of this?
What is wrong with me?
