Chapter 2: Powerless
Aaron was a boy with Black hair, and Brown eyes. He looked just like his father While Tarou was the complete opposite. He had blond hair and blue eyes like their dead mother. No one would guess that they were siblings. Especially since Aaron was also a bit different from the other monsters as well.
He was shorter than monsters of the same age, but physically he was stronger. Without power, he could defeat all of them with his bare hands.
His father, Alan, was the most powerful monster in the land, so he was chosen as the leader. Aaron couldn't possibly let him down and be mocked by the others.
His big brother Tarou was already a legend. He completed his mission successfully and possessed all his power when he was only 17. No monster could do such a thing at such a young age. And because of that, he became the pride of the family.
Aaron watched his brother getting all the prizes and compliments while he got nothing but comparison. He knew that he can't be like him, but he wished at least to get his power as everyone did.
So, the boy was excited to know what kind of power he may possess to make his father proud as well and to be finally recognized within the land, but nothing happened as he wished for.
After the disappointing birthday, Aaron kept locking himself inside his room for about a week. He couldn't believe that he didn't change even a bit.
" What is wrong with my body? Why has nothing changed? I can't go out and confront the others while I am still like this. They are surely waiting for me to tell them about my power. What am I supposed to tell them? "
- Aaron, can you open the door?
- LEAVE ME ALONE, TAROU, I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANYONE.
- Please open the door. It is not a big deal that you didn't change yet.
- HOW COULD YOU UNDERSTAND HOW AWFUL I AM FEELING, RIGHT NOW? YOU STARTED CHANGING AT FIFTEEN.
- That's the point. You can't assume anything, right now. Maybe because I changed too early, you will change later. Just give yourself much more time. No one knows what will happen...
Aaron finally opened the door:
- Do you think so?
- Of course, I do! You are the son of the most powerful monster.
- But our mother was a human. What if...
- Stop talking nonsense. I'm sure that you will receive your power sooner so stop worrying.
- What about father? Didn't he say anything?
- No, he didn't...
- Father doesn't care about me. Since my birthday, he has never came to check on me.
- You need to take all those weird thoughts out of your mind and only focus on yourself. You know that father is very busy managing the land and the monsters' problems.
Three months have passed since the birthday, but there were no signs of any kind of power. His friends were already starting to change according to their magical powers.
Aaron decided finally to talk to his father, maybe he could find a solution for his condition.
- Father, do you think there is something wrong with me?
Said Aaron with a face full of worries.
- Nothing is for sure right now, keep your practice to gain more strength. There are nearly 2 years in your hands, your power can be shown at any time.
Replied the father with a stern tone.
Aaron always felt that his father resent him. Alan had never praised him or show any kind of love or compassion toward him.
Aaron had never understood the reason.
Is it because his mother died when she was giving birth to him?
Tarou tried the cheer him up, for a bit.
- Don't worry little brother, I will protect you.
- I can protect myself, don't bother.
Day after day, Aaron was getting closer to his twenty birthday while still nothing changed about him. He couldn't do anything besides training every day until he became worn out.
The other monsters harassed him for that:
- Hey look at him, his 20th birthday is on the corner, and he has no sign of power, hhhh
- Yep, he is worthless.
- It's like we have a human being living with us how disgusting.
- Maybe he is a human like his mother...
Those words pierced his heart and made him full of rage.
- STOP TALKING, YOU JERKS...
He used his fist to attack them, but he ended up being scolded by his father, which made him more depressed.
" Should I just leave?"
