Chapter 57: A Weak Pet Is The Best

"Ethan told me the girl is so dear to you, is she?"

"She is not."

"She is not?" Hazel was tempted to lift her head up and watch his expression but then she knew it would disrupt whatever she was doing.

"Are you okay, pet?" Lucifel's concerned voice came again as he noticed his pet resting on his chest.

This was impossible!

He knew that no matter what could happen, this vampiress would never do what she was doing. He definitely knew something was wrong or she was trying to do something.

Meanwhile, Hazel kept counting how many seconds she had spent hearing his heartbeat. '5...6...7...'

"What are you doing, pet?" Hazel heard his voice and she answered him almost immediately,

"Nothing. I just want to..." Before she could complete she fell silent. She knew she had to complete the twenty seconds, she must not allow him to stop whatever she was doing. At least, she should pretend that she had no ill thoughts towards him so that she could at least complete this.
